In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about the issues facing the Capitals in the month of January. The Capitals were 11-2-2 in December and in January their record is 5-7-1 so far. Its easy to point to injuries as the problem facing this team, and that is true at least in part. Nick Backstrom had this advice "We just need to simplify a little bit," Backstrom said. "Be a little bit quicker and make sure we don't get stuck in our own zone. If we can do that, hopefully we'll create some more offense. Capitalize, that's the key.".
The Caps have also had troubles in net from their number one goalie Darcy Kuemper. He has started 11 of 13 games this month. He’s also been pulled in two of the last four.
The Islanders traded for Bo Horvat today to help bolster their push for the playoffs. What moves to the Caps have to make, if any before the trade dealine.
