I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about “My Purpose” in Life and where my passion for Creativity meets the way I feel about the shit-show of current “modern” civilization. I basically dive into all the ways Political Correctness ruined me (and I believe pretty much everyone’s) ability to think for myself. It goes a lot deeper than that, but let’s just say that I’m pretty over trying to fit into any boxes, so saying goodbye to trying to be PC is part of the journey of Tenaciously Being.

This episode of the Tenaciously Being podcast is actually a direct reading of a children’s picture book titled, “The Little Soul and the Sun” by Niel Donald Walsh.

This book was brought up in conversation and recommended to me by a dear friend (and fellow Empress) who also listens to a lot of Lorie Ladd, homeschools her kids and follows a non-western-medical methods of healing and wellness. In an ironic twist of fate, we had almost met when I first finished Health Coaching school and signed on to sell a certain brand of products that is no longer available. When we finally met in person and made that connection it became very clear that we had contracted prior to incarnating to show up for each other in specific ways. I’m grateful to that friendship, as well as for introducing me to this beautifully illustrated and well-told story.

I’ve spoken before about this “God-spark” that exists in all of us, and this story explains that concept simply and eloquently… it’s too good to not just read ver-batim as I have. I hope you enjoy the story and that it reminds you of the light within yourself and that is also in everyone else. It’s not always easy to remember in today’s crazy world, but when we live from that place of LOVE, we are aligning with our higher consciousness and ultimately God (or Goddess, Universe, Source, Self… whatever word you prefer to use).

Cyclical Living was completely new to me 6 years ago when I was first introduced to it. It blew my mind. And then it blew my partner’s mind. It took a lot of practice, attention, communication, dedication, and very quiet listening in order to fold it into our lives. And I can say, without a doubt, that it is a foundational component to living our best life. Everything has a cycle - we live in a cyclical world, not linear. The linear way of thinking keeps us trapped, thinking we’re behind, not enough, or we missed our opportunities. What if we shifted our perspective? What if, instead of seeing only the beginning and end of things, we begin to see how beautifully life spirals into and on top of itself… constantly growing, evolving, cycling through so we can learn from our experiences and create the life we want. It takes some time, and it takes tuning into your body, and I believe it’s worth every second of time and energy to do so. This episode explains why.

In this episode, Rather dives into her family’s decision to homeschool… and then not. It gets a little personal when these discussions come up because we are social creatures and most of us learned our social tendencies through the school system. We hear a lot of “I went to public school and I turned out fine” sorts of comments when in discussion. This episode is meant to discuss those types of comments and also to explain more of WHY we chose homeschooling in the first place. Ultimately, it’s a personal decision of our family’s, and it has never been intended to insult or undermine what other families choose to do. If phrases like “systems falling” and “we choose not to participate” are triggering for you, may we invite a little open dialog about what this means for society as a whole? What can be learned from a falling system? What can be used in the future systems that will replace the dying ones? What do we get to Create for the future of our families and society as a whole?

Welcome to Season 2 of Tenaciously Being, the place where we’re exploring what it looks like to simply BE in this world. Season 2 begins to dive into the Health and Wellness, beginning with a quick synopsis of how and when I got to where I am now… a certified Health Coach that doesn’t really want to talk about “Health and Wellness” anymore 🤷‍♀️😆.

Sometimes the things I want to talk about are interesting to you, sometimes they may seem repetitive or boring because you think to yourself, “I already know this”. When I find myself thinking this way, I choose a Marie Forleo reframe: “What can I learn from this?” If you’re not familiar with her work, check her out and get ready to be inspired (with a hot dose of sass😘).

In this episode I discuss how important BioIndividuality is to the conversation and how frustrated I’ve always been with “diet culture”. We talk about how our tendency to fix everything might be impeding our ability to actually heal. I also give up my favorite trick to being able to eat less processed foods and more whole foods every day (it’s surprisingly easy!). Ultimately, I’m looking forward to opening up this conversation with friends and followers who feel called to chime in. As Season 2 unfolds, I want to get into the nitty gritty of what it looks like to be a thriving human in today’s day’n age. Phew, we did it! This is the final episode of what I’m calling “Season 1” of Tenaciously Being. All of these episodes were recorded prior to receiving any feedback - completely secluded in my own head and my own experiences. From here on out, I’ll be coming from a place of having received comments and critiques, you might notice a difference?

In this episode we briefly review what was talked about in episodes 1-9 and I reiterate (over and over again - because it’s that important) how I’m not here to tell you how it is. I’m here to share how it looks for me and my life. I hope that my experiences, stories and thoughts assist you in your life in some way, but I am not trying to “teach” anything. Perhaps a little bit of friendly tough love in this episode. I break down my beliefs about how no one has the exact answer to what ails you. We discuss the beautiful paradox of this being freeing and crippling at the same time. A lot is changing in the world and it seems to be happening rapidly. Seeking answers from Old World paradigms, boxing myself into diagnosis’ and labels, and living as a victim to any conditions are NOT the ways I’m choosing to proceed. I have a lot of hope in the body’s resilience, in our natural capabilities to heal when given half a chance. In order to do that we have to see the conditioning that has kept us feeling sick, depressed and in need of answers. We have the answers within. We are designed to heal. Only YOU really know how to do it.
