A standout career at the University of Virginia followed with the running back finishing as the school’s all-time leader in rushing before Don Shula selected him in the third round of the 1993 NFL Draft. Kirby continued to set records in his rookie season with the Miami Dolphins and was hugely popular with his teammates and fans alike but was traded by Jimmy Johnson prior to the 1996 season.
