Your next rental car may be electric. Are you ready? Alberta embarrassed by paranoia proven wrong. This and so much more!

James announces what he will do with his EV Road Tax that will be refunded to him by an environmental group, not the government.

Hertz, barely four months out of bankruptcy, placed an order for 100,000 Teslas in the first step of an ambitious plan to electrify its rental-car fleet.

The cars will be delivered over the next 14 months, and Tesla Inc.’s Model 3 sedans will be available to rent at Hertz locations in major U.S. markets and parts of Europe starting in early November, the rental company said in a statement. Customers will have access to Tesla’s network of superchargers, and Hertz is also building its own charging infrastructure.

It’s the single-largest purchase ever for electric vehicles, or EVs, and represents about $4.2 billion of revenue for Tesla.

When Alberta released its report into foreign influence of environmental groups on Thursday, Jason Kenney, the premier, was conspicuously absent. During the 2019 election, I watched Mr. Kenney roar up to podiums in his full-sized pickup truck and tell generally enthusiastic crowds that “anti-Alberta energy campaigns” were largely the work of foreign influence and money.

Last year the Guardian revealed that fossil fuel firms had held a series of private meetings with UK officials in an attempt to be part of Cop26. Documents revealed that some of the world’s biggest polluters had been lobbying the government, offering money in return for exposure at the event and in one case saying they could act as an intermediary between UK officials and other governments.

But now, in what campaigners say is a big win for climate activism, the UK’s Cop unit has confirmed that no fossil fuel majors will have a formal role.
