Ghosts' past. American cast. Kayako's fast. Save Sarah Michelle Gellar for last.
Director Takashi Shimizu became part of the popular Japanese Horror scene with his work on the Ju-On series. Building off the popularity of J-horror movies like Ringu and Pulse, Shimizu directed 2002's Ju-On: The Grudge. This film became a horror hit and Hollywood took notice - not only offering to do a remake with American actors but also to keep Shimizu in the director's chair for it as well. This is a rarity for remakes and explains why 2004's The Grudge stands out as the most reverent of the source material for Japanese Horror remakes.
Join the TPM crew as they debate the best Japanese horror movies. After the debate, they go house hunting and settle on a nicely haunted podcast studio to discuss 2004's The Grudge.

Drug-laced teddy bears. Squeaky shoes. Mermaid knives. Inconvenient refrigerators.
1967's Wait Until Dark is a classic thriller from a previous era that still feels fresh and clever. Director Terence Young made his name with early James Bond films and brought a level of excitement and focus on villainy that was rare in the 1960s. Audrey Hepburn also steps out of her comfort zone to star in easily the most horrific movie of her illustrious career.
Wait Until Dark tells the still-unique story of Suzy Hendrix who is increasingly terrorized by three men. This is made all the scarier due to the fact that Suzy is blind. The elaborate story and performances concocted by the criminals turn into a cat-and-mouse game with murderous results.
Join the TPM crew as they debate how well they would do in a horror movie without one their senses and drastically overestimate their survival chances. After agreeing that taste is useless, we gang up on our unsuspecting victims to discuss 1967's 'Wait Until Dark'.

No alcohol. No flights. No light. Throw in some vampires.
30 Days of Night was released in 2007 and was based on a comic series of the same name. Director David Slade helmed the film after directing numerous music video's and 2004's cult horror classic 'Hard Candy'. Despite being set in northern Alaska the film was shot in New Zealand and half the cast was Aussie/Kiwi.
30 Days of Night centers around Barrow, Alaska and their (extremely fictional) 30 days of darkness during the winter. While the town is cut off from civilization by plane, sea or land - vampires decide to feast on the remaining townspeople. Sheriff Eben must keep the surviving townspeople safe for all 30 days before they can escape the merciless band of vampires.
Join the TPM crew as they debate the best horror (and not so horror) comic book movie adaptions. Once Sin City rolls the debate and we agree Eva Green kills sequels, we bundle up to talk about 2007's Josh Hartnett-led '30 Days of Night'.
