With Dillian Whyte withdrawing from a heavyweight title elimination fight against Kubrat Pulev after the purse bid had been held to instead take a July 28 fight against former world titlist Joseph Parker, the IBF ordered Pulev and Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller to negotiate for the elimination fight that will produce one of the mandatory challengers for unified titlist Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs) on Monday. https://www.patreon.com/Thaboxingvoice

Dereck Chisora and Carlos Takam will meet in a crunch Heavyweight clash at The O2 in London on July 28, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Both men find their careers on a knife-edge going into the clash, with Finchley man and former World title challenger Chisora seeking a big win to fire his name into the mix for major title fights having been edged out by Agit Kabayel for the European title in Monaco in November following a narrow defeat to headliner Dillian Whyte in a fight of the year contender in Manchester in December 2017.

Takam is back in the UK following his spirited challenge against Anthony Joshua for the IBF, WBA and IBO World titles at Principality Stadium in Cardiff in October.

Errol Spence Jr.’s fight Saturday night is more about where than who.

The unbeaten IBF welterweight champion is such a huge favorite against unknown mandatory challenger Carlos Ocampo that if Spence loses, it’ll be an upset of epic proportions. The 22-year-old Ocampo is unbeaten, but he has defeated a very low level of opposition since making his pro debut in July 2012 and hasn’t fought outside of his native Mexico.

Bovada, an online sports book, considers this such a mismatch, it lists Spence as an astounding 100-1 favorite over Ocampo.

Ocampo’s complete anonymity makes the expected turnout for Spence’s hometown fight all the more impressive. An anticipated capacity crowd of roughly 15,000 will pack Ford Center at The Star, the Dallas Cowboys’ training center, for the card headlined by the Spence-Ocampo match in Frisco, Texas (Showtime; 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT).
