Whether it’s how we find partners, commit to partners, or not only commit to one partner, navigating today’s ever changing landscape of relationships can be anything from overwhelming to exhilarating. Trends seem to constantly be emerging that free people to date on demand, marry later and even forego marriage altogether. However, what's not as readily explored are alternative ways to end unhappily ever after. Perhaps this is because divorce still bares with it a stigma which keeps couples defensive and resigned, on a bullet train headed for the worst. As a result, when it comes to divorcing, families rarely give themselves permission to creatively reimagine what co-parenting could look like and as a result never pursue the road less travelled. Freelance writer and Founder of FamilyNesting.org, an online community focusing on the well-being of the children during a divorce, Beth Behrendt is one of the rare birds who chose to do it her way. At 5:30, she joins Chelsea to talk about what giving children custody of the family home looks like, the reason her and her ex-husband decided to see if bird nesting could work for them—a living arrangement and paradigm, mind you, associated with celebrities like Josh Lucas and most recently played out on the sitcom, Splitting Up Together, and opens up about how nesting has enabled her, if not encouraged her, to nurture a relationship with her ex-husband rather than fall into the more expected pattern between ex’s, that of passive engagement.—Use CODE “thankyouex” for the month of December on all Chelsea’s coaching services: www.breakupward.com/shopReceive your chosen self-development book with one of Chelsea's signature love letters, when you write an iTunes review for Thank You Heartbreak. We’ve all known, heard or been the woman to say, all I want is a nice guy. Or a loyal guy. But, what about a leader? Elliott Katz, author of Being the Strong Man a Woman Wants: Timeless Wisdom on Being a Man, says after speaking to women from all walks of life, what women really want is a man to be a leader. And, the kicker? It never even occurred to men. At minute 9, Elliott joins Chelsea to discuss why trying to do anything to make a woman happy doesn't just make her happy and, ultimately, how oblivious men and women are to one another’s needs. Not only do men not read minds or pick up on a female’s tendency to imply her true desires, but women believe that what they expect from a man is obvious, if not common sense. This episode tries to make sense of this conundrum. What do men need to do to gain a woman’s respect and therein attraction back and what can women do to make men feel valued and desired also?—Use CODE “thankyouex” for the month of December on all Chelsea’s coaching services: www.breakupward.com/shopReceive your chosen self-development book with one of Chelsea's signature love letters, when you write an iTunes review for Thank You Heartbreak. The process of unlearning that happens on the yoga mat is what exposed holistic and abundance coach Chelsea Nielsen to the tools she needed to cope with the full spectrum of life, including deep childhood traumas and emotions she hadn’t explored in a long time. What led her into teaching yoga aboard super yachts was three-fold: her divorce, the yearning to stretch past her comfort zone—her community in Charleston, SC where she had experienced, up until that point, the best years of her life, and her desire to live her practice off the mat and sailing the sea, in an environment where she was “the help” and had to channel the power and practice of nonreacting. The conversation that unfolds within this episode is the courageous story of flipping the table, meeting her now boyfriend at sea, and returning with him to her childhood home, a place where her last memory was that of her belongings overflowing from a dumpster sitting in her family's front lawn. Chelsea goes deep about her father abandoning her family when she was 12 years old and never understanding why, what she would tell her younger self, falling in love with the potential of her ex-husband, the teachings of a cab driver—or guardian angel—best illustrated as an infinity sign of trust and willingness, raising the collective vibration by ridding shame, unlearning all the things we carry with ourselves through the years, and the three questions that comfort us and enable us to seek expansion: am I safe, am I loved, am I accepted?—Use CODE “thankyouex” for the month of December on all Chelsea’s coaching services: www.breakupward.com/shopReceive your chosen self-development book with one of Chelsea's signature love letters, when you write an iTunes review for Thank You Heartbreak. Author of You Are Enough: 5 Steps To Move From Struggle To Strength, Licensed Mental Health Therapist, Transformational Mindset Coach, Podcast Host of The Blonde Bombshell and Veteran, Megan Fenyoe, opens up about the time in between her clients, when she was on her office floor hysterically crying and in the grips of a narcissistic abusive marriage. She talks about the love bombing from her ex that urged her down the aisle in a beautiful Napa wedding within 12 months of meeting each other, the shift in control that happened almost instantaneously once they were married and, unbeknownst to her friends, continuing a relationship with her ex-husband after his affair and even after they were separated. This is a story of following the invisible nudging that insists you are meant for more. It's a journey of listening closely and not stopping until you get it right. For Megan, she thought the nudge was to leave Northern California for San Diego, to leave her job and breakout on her own and, the reality is, this was part of it but it wasn't all of it. The nudging that was the hardest but most pressing call to heed was cutting the cord from her ex-husband once and for all, finding closure in her own way—by closing the door on who she was when she was with him—and taking the necessary steps to own her life.—Use CODE “thankyouex” for the month of December on all Chelsea’s coaching services: www.breakupward.com/shopReceive your chosen self-development book with one of Chelsea's signature love letters, when you write an iTunes review for Thank You Heartbreak. YouTube sensation and unexpected author of A Sucky Love Story: Overcoming Unhappily Ever After, Brittani Louise Taylor, had no intention of ever writing a book, let alone a memoir, about the unimaginable demise of her rom-con worthy romance. But when her go to medium for processing her experiences was suddenly the one place she was legally not allowed to share her story, Brittani found herself alone and silenced for the very first time. To recover her sanity, worth and integrity, Brittani found herself weaving together the narrative of her very first love story, a story so deceptive, terrorizing and depleting that it would come to act as evidence in a domestic abuse case. What Brittani presents to us now, both in her memoir and within this episode, is a cautionary tale. In a world where strangers turn into soulmates with a swipe, love lives are documented and consumed by hundreds, thousands, and in her case millions of eyes, even the most genuine people fall short of the authenticity they so badly want to uphold. In minute 8, Brittani joins Chelsea to talk, at length, for the first time about everything that happened—much of which she didn’t even know was happening—when the cameras weren’t rolling, the vlogs weren’t being made and she was, like so many of us, just a woman standing in front of a man wanting so badly to believe.—Use CODE “thankyouex” for the month of December on all Chelsea’s coaching services: www.breakupward.com/shopReceive your chosen self-development book with one of Chelsea's signature love letters, when you write an iTunes review for Thank You Heartbreak. Interior designer and founder of Seriously Happy Homes Rebecca West speaks to one of the most pressing questions post-heartbreak: how do I live inside what was, amongst the many reminders of failure and loss, and do I have to? She talks about the importance of redesigning your home, reimagining your life and finding something new—an adventure that began inside the house she shared with her ex-husband and started with a fresh coat of black paint on the ceiling and downsizing to a twin size bed. This conversation, however, is not only about embracing single life and committing to the healing nature of solitude but about prioritizing intention and self-work before partnering again as well as the commitment, mental shift, and daily choice that comes with marriage. At minute 10, Rebecca joins Chelsea to talk about prioritizing adventure over the status quo, the experience of joy over the fear of losing one's source of joy, the complexities of entrepreneurship and our human need—and responsibility—to reach out and ask someone if they really are okay. —To connect with Rebecca, visit her:Website: www.happystartsathome.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/happyseriouslyFacebook: www.facebook.com/happyseriouslyTwitter: https://twitter.com/happyseriouslyHer book, Happy Starts At Home: https://www.amazon.com/dp/0997623705/ref=cm_sw_su_dp—Work with Chelsea at: www.breakupward.com/shopFind Chelsea’s website at: www.breakupward.comSign up for Chelsea’s newsletter at: bit.ly/tyhbletterConnect and send in your questions and/or letters on Instagram.com/thankyouheartbreak or by email [email protected]Chelsea Leigh Trescott:

In one of the liveliest conversations on TYHB, Results Coach & Author Bertrand Ngampa aka Coach B provides insight into the male psyche—like, why a man might compare the women he’s dating or why a date isn't enough without sex—and encourages men and women to level up every life pillar in order to cultivate a satisfying and intentional life as a single person as well as become the one for the one you are seeking. 9:30 minutes in, Coach B joins Chelsea and discusses this and many more gems like:— when people hire a coach, often they are yearning for connection— the leader must guide the relationship— why we compare the people we are dating against each other— forgoing the thrill of short-term pleasure if you have no interest in being connected long-term — the host of problems that comes with short-term sexual pleasure — harnessing the power of sex, of saying no, forces you to dig deeper within you and level up— not getting sex for a man is not fulfilling because it’s not validation that you, as a man, are enough— it’s okay to say no to the sex and yes to being present and connected to another human being— our stories connect us— we’re missing the process of really finding out what makes us connect— what would you say to someone who’s in a position where they don’t feel like they’re not being allowed to be who they want to be— the benefits of being the outsider versus the “cool” kid— how being an athlete influences our identities— the power of relationships helping us rise to the top— the standards you set for yourself are going to show no matter what you do— winners win and losers lose mindset— winners are solution-focused/lesson seekers post-heartbreak— whereas, the loser mentality is looking for someone to feel bad for them— when you feel that your relationship is going south, that’s when you need to begin making your peace— if people who know the end is near aren’t making peace, what are they doing?— just because you love somebody doesn’t mean you need to be in a relationship with them— it’s okay to love someone from afar— the two forks in the road post-breakup — what it means to breakupward —To connect with Coach B, visit:His website: www.coachbn.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/bngampaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/BNGAMPA/—Work with Chelsea at: www.breakupward.com/shopFind Chelsea’s website at: www.breakupward.comSign up for Chelsea’s newsletter at: bit.ly/tyhbletterConnect and send in your questions and/or letters on Instagram.com/thankyouheartbreak or by email [email protected]Chelsea Leigh Trescott:

This hour conversation with writer & producer Richard Boehmcke runs the gamut with sensitivity, intelligence, pop culture references and humor. In addition to tackling one of the most popular questions sent to Chelsea, how to wait for a woman who isn’t ready for you, Rich delves into the grief involved in ending a relationship where nothing’s really wrong but nothing’s really right, the danger of relying on one gear in order to create, growing the plant you feed, the human tendency to look for permission to be multidimensional, striving for expression but settling for repression, moving forward without letting go, embracing partial connections out of desperation for possible connections, and what makes his relationship with his fiancé different from all his past romances. PS: This episode is full of one-liner quotables. In minute 14, Rich joins Chelsea to talk about this and literally so much more:+ men avoiding the vulnerability of “this is who I am”+ the power of reflecting, feeling lonely, and sitting with the emotions to understand them versus medicating through staying busy, hooking up and drinking + there’s two possible results in relationships: we’re together forever or we’re not+ the challenge of being in a relationship that is very good but knowing in your gut that it’s not good for forever+ the attraction to personalities, first and foremost+ the want to find a relationship that “just feels right”+ the daunting question of what is my next step to move forward+ the preconceived notion that if you instigated the end of something, you can’t feel grief about losing it+ the inability to see memories or an ex’s everyday actions away from you, yet the ability to keep gifts from them+ loving something for what it is and not for who it’s from+ remembering your relationship differently than your ex remembers it+ every relationship gets us into shape to meet “the one”+ squeezing as much juice out of the lemon through nonfiction writing+ good art is a commitment to making good art+ busting the myth that men don’t need or want to process their own emotions+ not what would a woman or man do but what would a human being want?Plus, more. —To connect with Rich, visit:His website: https://boehmcke.com/His writing for The Good Men Project: https://goodmenproject.com/author/richard-boehmckeInstagram: www.instagram.com/boehmcke—Work with Chelsea at: www.breakupward.com/shopFind Chelsea’s website at: www.breakupward.comSign up for Chelsea’s newsletter at: bit.ly/tyhbletterConnect and send in your questions and/or letters on Instagram.com/thankyouheartbreak or by email [email protected]Chelsea Leigh Trescott:

“Don’t be too afraid to let it all go for something else to be created,” is both a warning and anthem from author Jane Binns. Speaking candidly about her divorce and doing what her mother couldn’t do, Jane brings her newly released memoir Broken Whole to life. With searing honesty, she talks about her yearning to feel visible in her marriage, the severe and everlasting impression her mother’s tolerance and her father’s stoicism had on her, the particular grief that follows the death of not only an ex-husband but your son’s father, and the relief of no longer having to live for her dad's attention. At 9:30, Jane joins Chelsea to discuss this and so much more. Gems to look out for:+ the relief of being seen+ modeling your parents marriage+ doing in your marriage what your mother couldn’t do in hers+ how you can forgive more when you aren’t that committed+ divorcing for your child+ the risk of putting yourself out there+ being a safe, stable and good man is not enough+ the setbacks of the eternal optimist aka the fixer+ grieving the death of your ex-husband+ the severe impression your parent’s dynamic can make+ the isolating experience of not being able to have a conversation within your marriage+ performance and doing well to garner your father’s attention+ the challenges of living what you saw and loving as your parents did+ what it looks like to take the promise of “this is going to last” to extremes+ wearing the cloak of failure after initiating a divorce+ divorcing for your child+ the influence of your parents marriage+ feeling lighter after a parent’s passing+ divorce doesn’t mean you stop loving someone, it just means the marriage didn’t work—To connect with Jane, visit:Her website: https://janebinnswrites.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/JBBrokenWhole/Twitter: https://twitter.com/BrokenWhole_JBHer memoir, Broken Whole: https://www.amazon.com/Broken-Whole-Memoir-Jane-Binns/dp/163152433X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1542346618&sr=1-1—Work with Chelsea at: www.breakupward.com/shopFind Chelsea’s website at: www.breakupward.comSign up for Chelsea’s newsletter at: bit.ly/tyhbletterConnect and send in your questions and/or letters on Instagram.com/thankyouheartbreak or by email [email protected]Chelsea Leigh Trescott:
