  • 027: Never Bitter, Always Better with Lindy Lewis

    Send us Fan Mail

Lindy Lewis, the Banking from Breakup coach, shares her insights on what she calls the “ultimate breakup bounce back.” She comes with a wealth of knowledge, pulling from her own Breakupward story of a long-term relationship where she was left ghosted and her identity missing. Her story, of course, didn’t end there. Lindy shares with the TYHB audience how she went from losing herself in the process of loving another to winning herself back through self-love, which is a riveting, restorative journey in and of itself. In this episode, we delve into leveraging your breakup and using it to your advantage so you can move on with your life and become a stronger, more confident version of yourself. And, in true Lindy fashion, she tells us how we can start banking from a breakup right now… because, as her grandmother insisted, you should never leave a breakup empty handed. Other gems to listen out for:+ why your ex owes you nothing and how the only closure you need comes from the breakup itself+ taking back your power and control to design a life that elevates you+ how we are all each other’s teachers and why we resist this thinking when a breakup is fresh+ how we can choose to be consumed by our breakup or elevated+ the sobering, if not startling, insight that love doesn’t conquer all+ the stigma that comes with being single and what we're really afraid of+ why we love others before ourselves+ the significance in befriending yourself+ the benefits of putting yourself through a manbattical or a year of living manlessly+ and so much more.Mentioned during this episode:Lindy Lewis’ Mogul Spotlight: https://onmogul.com/stories/thank-you-heartbreak-spotlighting-creatives-29Daniel Sloss’s Netflix show, Jigsaw, which he calls a love letter to single people: https://www.netflix.com/title/80223685Research from Noddle finding that 1 in 4 adults experience severe financial difficultly after a breakup: https://www.express.co.uk/finance/city/913720/relationship-fail-breakdown-who-suffers-financial-burden-battle-of-the-sexes “Relationships don’t end because two people did something wrong to each other—they end because two people are something wrong for each other,” by Mark Manson from his article, “How To Get Over Someone And Move On With Your Life." https://markmanson.net/how-to-get-over-someone“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time,” by Maya Angelou"How To Be Ghosted With Dignity," the advice column written by Chelsea for The Huffington Post: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/advice-column-how-to-be-ghosted-with-dignity_us_58486e21e4b013b566b2ba5d—Work with Lindy: http://bankingfrombreakup.com/work-together/Website: www.bankingfrombreakup.comTwitter: www.twitter.com/bankfrombreakupEmail: [email protected] your copy of her Banking from Breakup Manifesto as a thank you gift http://bankingfrombreakup.com/manifesto/ It will change the way you look at your breakup!Look out for her new book “Finding Your Power and Purpose Through Your Pain” which will be out on Amazon later this year.—Sign up for Chelsea’s newsletter at: bit.ly/tyhbletterFind Chelsea’s website at: www.breakupward.comWork with Chelsea at: www.breakupward.com/shopConnect and send in your questions and/or letters on Instagram.com/thankyouheartbreak or by email [email protected]

But, this love story comes to a sudden halt when Stuck in Love regretfully expresses his impatience and the woman who’s captured his heart opens up about her husband wanting to repair the relationship and bring the family back together. Chelsea talks about the challenge of seeing yourself as you are in this moment; the challenge of accepting feedback and being secure enough to let it direct you rather than divert or deter you; the challenge of staying motivated when you feel embarrassed, exposed, and like you’re not enough; the challenge of remaining confident when you are stuck in the land of comparison; and the challenge of really letting go. This episode is, ultimately, about accepting both yourself and the challenge—the challenge to grow beyond your current way of being, thinking, and relating.—Sign up for Chelsea’s newsletter at: bit.ly/tyhbletterFind Chelsea’s website at: www.breakupward.comWork with Chelsea at: www.breakupward.com/servicesConnect and send in your questions and/or letters on Instagram.com/thankyouheartbreak or by email [email protected]—Mentioned in this episode:PRSUIT newsletter:http://prsuit.com/Shaunta Grimes, "If you want to change your life, just do this one thing."https://medium.com/@shauntagrimes/if-you-want-to-change-your-life-just-do-this-one-thing-af1193b35358Cara Alwill Leyba, Like She Owns the Place: Give Yourself the Gift of Confidence and Ignite Your Inner Magichttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0525533109/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0

  • 021: Less Secrets, More Speaking Up & Believing What Someone Tells You

    Send us Fan Mail

Piggybacking off “How To Move On When You See Your Ex Every Day,” Chelsea responds to three listener's letters that relate to the topic. Instead of shelling out advice, Chelsea tries to point out what each letter is not communicating despite their confessional nature. Chelsea jumpstarts the episode with her usual psychobabble, wondering "where should I begin?,” as if this were a therapy session she desperately needs. She talks about the difficulty of asking for help, the guilt of talking about yourself and why it’s so important to have someone or at least some outlet that you can turn to that asks, What are you feeling? Where does it hurt? What is going on?At 17:30, we hear from The Queen of Sorrow, a letter writer who’s confessed her love to her best friend only to have him admit that he’s been crushing on another girl. Now she has to watch them flirt in class and she feels betrayed. In our second letter, at 29:18, Chelsea responds to A Large Amount of Emotional Baggage, a woman who was betrayed by her ex and best friend who were sleeping together. She finds out that her entire friend group had been lying to her about what was going on and so she breaks ties with her boyfriend, all her friends, and loses contact with her parents in the aftermath for awhile too. The only thing is, her new friends have begun to hang out with her old friends and she’s scared that putting herself in a social setting with them will trigger her post-heartbreak feelings of self-hatred. At 46:13, DTF writes in from Instagram. She’s just blocked her friend and love interest on social media and is livid, not to mention confused. After asking him, she discovered he, too, was “dtf,” only when he told her he saw her like he sees all his friends, she felt wronged. `Chelsea gets to heart of it.If you have a question, write in at [email protected]—Sign up for Chelsea’s newsletter at: bit.ly/tyhbletterFind Chelsea’s website at: www.breakupward.comWork with Chelsea at: www.breakupward.com/shopConnect and send in your questions and/or letters on Instagram.com/thankyouheartbreak or by email [email protected]__Referenced in this episode:“How To Move On When You See Your Ex Every Day,” by Chelsea Leigh Trescott via The Huffington Posthttps://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/advice-column-how-to-move-on-from-an-ex-you-see-every_us_582d4752e4b0d28e55214a99“Where Should We Begin?” by Esther Perel via iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/where-should-we-begin-with-esther-perel/id1237931798?mt=2https://www.estherperel.com/podcastClothes to Heart, Founded by Allison Trescotthttps://clothestoheart.org/Chase the Rainbow by Poorna Bellhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/147116070X/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0A Manual for Heartache by Cathy Rentzenbrinkhttps://www.amazon.com/Manual-Heartache-Cathy-Rentzenbrink/dp/1509824456/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1533273531&sr=1-1&keywords=a+manual+for+heartacheMaya Angelou, "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”

Whether you’re seeing your ex at work, in class, or simply on your social media feed, there are two ways to confront the reality that you both are alive and yet no longer privy to the intimate details of one another’s world. You can avoid one another or you can brave one another. In this episode, Chelsea responds to A Confused Train Wreck, a listener’s letter who’s been left with the daunting task of having to see their ex every day. Chelsea reflects on the benefits of doing what isn’t easy to do for the very reason that easy won’t prepare you for your darker dramas and more daring dreams. She talks about which friends belong in your inner circle in the wake of a breakup and why we might choose to love someone—or at least attach ourselves to someone—who treats us badly. Chelsea wraps this episode with 7 ways to move on from your ex.Also, in the intro to this episode, Chelsea opens up about the one thing that embarrasses her when it comes to creation in the public eye (it may surprise you) and the fine dance between using mediums such as podcasting and writing for your audience’s growth and your own self-reflection and therapeutic benefits. In other words, how important is it to leave yourself out of it as a host? Chelsea gets to the heart of it. Has your heartache ever been over, not what your partner was lacking but, all that seemed to be missing in yourself? Chelsea has.
