With their ranch 75 miles outside of Casper, Wyoming, Leslie Hendry and her family can easily stay isolated. By choosing to get involved with other cattle ranchers through conventions and committees, Leslie has been able to build community for herself.
As the Wyoming Director of Federation of State Beef Councils, Leslie works with others to provide education on the benefits of beef and promote the industry.
For others who live in rural settings, Leslie recommends finding community through your local Farm Bureau, grower meetings in your industry, and online groups. Those who live in rural areas and work in the agricultural industry can provide support and encouragement for one another.
For other men and women in the cattle industry, you can locate your state Beef Council at the National Cattlemen's Beef Association's website or at BeefBoard.org.

This is the second part of Archie’s interview with Ron Deal. You can find the first part, Building a Blended Family, on our website or on your favorite podcast app.
After losing their 12-year-old son Connor in 2009, Ron Deal and his wife Nan faced a crushing heartache. As their life began recalibrating to this unwanted new normal, they looked for ways to move through their grief.
Friends connected the Deals with Touch A Life Kids – an organization that rescues child trafficking survivors. Partnering with Touch A Life Kids, Ron and his wife opened the Connor Creative Arts Center. Through art therapy and lessons children who have endured extreme trauma can find ways to process and express themselves.
Ron and Nan have also been on other podcasts sharing about Connor. You can find some of those episodes here:

From this episode:
Two Ways Parents in a Blended Family can Improve Connection
· Learn your stepchild’s love language & put it on a scale. Instead of a bear hug for the child whose love language is physical touch, choose a fist-bump. Honor and respect their level of comfort with you.
· Respect the story of the child you’re trying to connect with. Be patient, persistent, continue to be present.
