    Mark & Claire Nix were faced with every parent’s fear – the loss of a child. Their son, Todd, lost his life in a farming accident when he was 8 years old. With two other children, withdrawing and sinking into grief was not an option. In this episode they share how total reliance on God and the constant reminders of His promises in the Bible gave them the strength to keep going.

It’s a grief we all know and it feels different from losing someone to illness or old age. In this week’s episode, guest host Mandi Barham speaks with Tracy Osborne about grieving after a sudden loss.  She explains how people grieve and how we can support those around us who have lost someone.

    A year ago this week Zach McCamey was the first one on the scene of a farm accident that took the life of his good friend and coworker. After trying for months to hold in his emotions and try to deal with his grief on his own, Zach realized that his struggles were negatively affecting his family and his work. His story of walking through raw grief and gaining strength from prayer, counseling, and the unconditional support from his wife brings hope to anyone who has experienced loss.

    Last week, Mardon Layne shared about his father’s death from suicide as well as the depression and alcoholism he experienced afterwards. Today, Mardon is free from addiction and is full of joy. If you haven’t listened to last week’s episode, please check it out first.

    This week, we talk to Counselor Educator Dr. Glen Putman and Licensed Counselor James Barham about the signs of depression, how to help those we love going through a difficult time, and resources that are available. There is hope and there is help for anything you are going through. You can move from depression to hope.

    Mardon Layne's father struggled with depression in a time when treatment options were limited and the stigma of mental health was high. After his death from suicide, Mardon had to handle the farm and finances while dealing with overwhelming grief. His story is one that will bring comfort and encouragement to any who are hurting and are not sure how they will walk through their loss.
