  • S2 E1: The Patterson-Gimlin Film with BRYCE JOHNSON

Welcome to Season Two of our show!

We couldn't think of a better way to kick off our brand new season than to have none other than Bryce Johnson on to talk about one of the most legendary artifacts in Bigfoot history: The Patterson-Gimlin Film.
You know Bryce from Travel Channel's - EXPEDITION BIGFOOT, hit TV shows like - PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, hit movies such as: WILLOW CREEK, and DARKNESS RISING.
He's also the co-host of Bigfoot Collectors Club, one of our all-time favorite podcasts.

In this MEGA SEASON PREMIERE episode, we talk about everything from the authenticity of the Patterson-Gimlin footage, how Bryce got hooked on high strangeness, rare photos of portals, behind the scenes moments of Expedition Bigfoot, and of course...the age-old question: why did people used to call him "Vanilla Bryce".

You're going to love this episode as much as we do - guaranteed. We're so glad to be back - this season is going to be HUGE.

Thank you for listening and as always - BE RAD!

  • S1 (BONUS EPISODE) Time Capsule Rewind: Part 2

Our Season 2 premiere is almost here! That’s right listeners - next week SEASON 2 of THAT WOULD BE RAD kicks off and it is going to be epic.

In the meantime, however, we have something special we put together we know our OG listeners and brand new listeners will enjoy.

One of our favorite segments we do on our show is called "Tales from the Time Capsule" which is where we present a fascinating story complete with captivating sound design, that will make you feel like you're right there in the thick of whatever drama is unfolding.

What we came to realize during Season 1 was that: almost as soon as we published the Time Capsule episode, we discovered something new or interesting about that specific story or topic.

SO - in today’s BONUS episode we decided we wanted to revisit 2 of our favorite Tales and go over some of the new things we've uncovered, discovered or talked with other listeners about since we've published them.

So join us as we revisit some of our favorite stories to date - The Ape Canyon Incident, and an instant favorite...The Flatwoods Monster.

Thank you so much for listening - Be Rad.

  • S1 (BONUS EPISODE) The Cutting Room Floor

Is it true that we are taking a small break between Season 1 and Season 2 of our podcast?

    Yes.
BUT, that doesn’t mean that you won’t have anything to listen to between now and the AMAZING Season 2 premiere.

This week we have something special for you - for the first time ever we’re releasing one of the many “pre-show” conversations we had before one of our Season 1 episodes...

This is literally the essence of why we started our podcast and frankly may even capture what our telephone conversations are like outside of the podcast, just like the ones we used to have that inspired us to start the show in the first place.

We end up accidentally diving into a variety of topics ranging from Think Bars, Lucid Dreaming, Astral Projection, new music, Gordon Ramsay, and much more.

I hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did when revisiting this audio left on the cutting room floor.

We thank each and every one of you that listen to our show.
We love you, we appreciate you, get ready for even bigger/better episodes to come in Season 2, and as always... BE RAD!

  • S1 E50: The Deadliest & Most Haunted Lake in America - Lake Lanier
This week marks our 50th episode AND our Season 1 finale. It's also the final week of our summer theme CAMP RAD STRANGENESS.
We could think of no better way to "close up camp" than to talk about the terrifying lake that is literally right in our backyard...Lake Lanier.
It's one of the busiest lakes in Georgia, and sadly also one of the deadliest in America.
The lake's origins are mired in controversy, entire communities were relocated, abandoned, and still exist under the 625 billion gallons of lake water...
Since it was created in the 1950s, the decaying buildings,  uprooted trees, and even cemeteries hidden below are seemingly ignored or left undiscovered.
Over the years though, many divers who have dared to explore Lake Lanier's depths, have reported creepy sightings beneath the murky waters. Some tell stories of horrifying catfish as big as a Volkswagen...old sunken boat wreckage, and others tell of finding decades-old human bodies still trapped below...
Year after year the death count increases. Mysterious drownings, disappearances, and countless reports of locals witnessing the strange and unexplained.
Since Lake Lanier opened people have reported seeing ghosts on its shores, along the roads leading to it, and even within its waters.
This week we will tell you one such tale...the story of The Lady of the Lake.
We've put together a great season finale for you. It's full of RAD STRANGENESS, we go over our favorite moments and episodes from this season, what we love about podcasting, and in an effort to show that podcasting isn't as easy as you might think - we have a HILARIOUS blooper reel just for you!
We thank each and every one of you that listen to our show.
We love you, we appreciate you, get ready for even bigger/better episodes to come in Season 2, and as always... BE RAD!

  • S1 E49: The Friday the 13th GIANT-SIZE Episode

Friday the 13th will land on the week this episode is released. What better time, as we are winding down our summer of CAMP RAD STRANGENESS, to finally celebrate and talk about one of the greatest and certainly highest-grossing horror movie franchises…

This week we talk about ALL the FRIDAY THE 13TH movies!

Despite being panned by critics - horror fans have kept these movies alive and made Jason Voorhees one of the most iconic characters of all time.

Woody took on the challenge to watch every single one of these movies - on VHS no less (except the 2009 reboot, which he streamed) back to back. Obviously viewing all 12 of these films took a few weeks and talking about each of them turned this into a GIANT-SIZE episode we know you’re gonna love.

We’ll take you through the good, the bad, and the so bad it’s good.

*SPOILER ALERT* - if you haven’t watched any of these movies or have forgotten some of the twists, you’ll want to re-watch them prior to listening to this episode, as we discuss key pieces of info including the endings.

If you’re a fan of the Friday the 13th movies, 80’s horror, summer camp slashers, and Jason Voorhees wreaking havoc in his hockey mask - then this episode is for you!

We hope you’ve been enjoying your stay this summer during our “CAMP RAD STRANGENESS”.

Keep coming back, bring your friends, and as always… BE RAD!

  • S1 E48: The Great Airship Mystery of 1897

For two years between 1896 and 1897, the skies of North America were invaded by a wave of airships. Some looked like UFOs as we know them today, while many more resembled futuristic dirigibles.

On last week’s episode you already heard of the alleged airship crash in Aurora, Texas, in 1897...BUT - did you know that there were many other alleged airship crashes in places like Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Iowa Falls, Iowa?

Did a Martian crash-land in Lanark, Illinois?

Was the dream of a little girl taken aboard a space craft by “little men” just a dream, or the repressed memory of an alien abduction?
What was the airship that one witness described as “Noah’s Ark returned to Earth”?
Did an Illinois storekeeper really manage to photograph an airship, and if so, where is the photo today?
And finally, were the humanoid pilots of the airships inventors from the time period, aliens in disguise, or time travellers from the future just trying to “blend in?”

Find out on this week's episode of That Would Be Rad.

We hope you’ve been enjoying your stay this summer during our “CAMP RAD STRANGENESS”.

  • S1 E47: The Aurora UFO Crash

When you hear the phrase “UFO crash,” you probably think of Roswell, New Mexico in 1947.

But - slow down a second...did you know that 50 years earlier on April 17, 1897, a mysterious "airship" allegedly crashed in Aurora, Texas?
Not only that but The Dallas Morning News reported at the time that the airship pilot, who was killed in the crash, was “not an inhabitant of this world.” The body of the reportedly alien pilot was buried in the local cemetery.

Now, you might dismiss this all as a TEXAS-SIZE TALL TALE... But, before you do know this: in the 1970s reporter, Jim Marrs managed to track down and interview a living eyewitness to the Aurora airship.
Was this little Texas town the site of one of the first UFO crashes in US History? You'll have to listen to decide!

We hope you’ve been enjoying your stay this summer during our “CAMP RAD STRANGENESS”.

  • S1 E46: The Aswang and Other Cryptids of the Philippines

Shortly after the end of WWII an American Christian missionary, who was called to serve in a small village in the Philippines, came face to face with a terrifying creature that shook him to his core.  An entity so vile it made him question everything he knew or even believed.

Deep in the darkest heart of the Philippines sits an evil, shapeshifting creature that shares the grotesque characteristics of werewolves, vampires, and ghouls.

It has no consistent image or description because its appearance varies per region.
This week on THAT WOULD BE RAD, we take you across the world as we explore THE ASWANG, the most feared creature in Philippine folklore, along with some runner-ups that are sure to make your spine tingle!

We hope you’ve been enjoying your stay this summer during our “CAMP RAD STRANGENESS”.

  • S1 E45: Fear Street Part 1: 1994

All of us here at That Would Be Rad have spent the first month of summer re-watching our favorite summer camp slashers, and even some that we had never seen before...(as heard on our previous episode S1 E42).

So many of them were filmed in the '80s and while that's, of course, part of what draws us toward them...to say that it was "REFRESHING" that an upcoming horror movie was set in the '90s would be an understatement.

The timing couldn't have been more perfect for Netflix to release the first installment of the FEAR STREET movies.

It was 4th of July weekend, and right after we had recorded our Songs of Summer episode (S1 E44) which ended up dredging up so many '90s summer "feels" already.

WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE the fact that we only have to wait a week between each installment of this horror trilogy - a brilliant move in our opinion, and a perfect solution to your "what should we watch tonight" summer dilemmas.

But, with a movie packed with '90s nostalgia, a killer soundtrack, fountains of blood, and super rad twists, let's just say that...

You'll have to listen to this episode to find out everything Woody and Tyler thought about Fear Street Part One: 1994.

Thank you so much for listening - Be Rad.

  • S1 E44: Songs of Summer

We all have those songs that take us right back to a specific time, a specific place, and maybe even with a specific person.

Songs that make us reminisce about old friends, days filled with no responsibility, and perhaps even make us feel like they were written just for us.

THIS WEEK we give you a list of our favorite songs that no matter where we are, or even what season...
they take us away immediately to warm, sunny, summer days.
This idea started as a short list of 5 songs each that we would bring to the show to talk about - BUT ENDED UP much, much, much longer than that!

Get your #2 pencils ready and rip out a page from your notebook  - we know you’ll agree that this might be - the best mixtape of Songs of Summer!

Thank you so much for listening - Be Rad.
