When you think "mom fashion," it may sound like an oxymoron because moms are stereotypically viewed as frumpy and disheveled because we are too busy sacrificing for our kids. Hello! But it doesn’t have to be this way. We CAN look like a million bucks and we SHOULD spend time and energy to do so because it does wonders for our confidence and self-esteem, which makes us better as moms, at our jobs, and positively impacts every facet of our life.
Katie Kabel is the founder of Kabel Styles and is my personal stylist. After spending over 20 years working in retail, Katie left work to start a family. She always enjoyed working, and knew she wanted to return to work when the time was right. She was eager to get back to doing what she loves; cultivating meaningful relationships, making women and men feel confident and empowered. Working as a personal stylist allows her to fulfill her desire to be productive and creative while still attending to the needs of her young family.
Being a personal stylist is so much more than dressing an individual, it’s about a relationship of trust, gratitude, and commitment. Giving someone the confidence to walk into an interview, go on a first date, tackle a new life adventure, or simply putting a smile on their face. That’s why she doesn’t just label herself as a personal shopper/stylist but also as an image consultant. Listen in to Katie's top tips for moms on the staples they should have in their closet and what pieces they should consider that are flattering, functional, fashionable, and fun!

Ever since we had our baby, my husband and I are at odds with each other. It’s like he’s my roommate and not my partner anymore. We just co exist. We never have time to sit down and talk. And when we do talk, it’s about laundry list items pertaining to the kids like - can you order more diapers or by the way, baby has his doctor’s appointment tomorrow. Every little argument snowballs into a fight. It feels like we’re constantly bickering. I don’t even want to talk about how long it’s been since we’ve been intimate. I’ve lost track of how many months it’s been. Why are my kids ruining my marriage??” -Dazed and Confused, New York, NY
If this sounds like you -- don’t worry. All couples go through this transition after they bring kids into their life. Priorities change and time is limited. I am doing this episode because I want to ensure you have the tools to reconnect with your partner and get your marriage back on track.
On today’s episode, I am joined by Marriage and Family Therapist Sahar Martinez. She says the process of healing often leads to deeper understanding of ourselves and our relationships. She works collaboratively with her clients, creating a safe, healing, therapeutic space that allows for growth and change. She offers an integrative approach to therapy, tailored to your unique needs. She specializes in working with individuals, couples and families struggling with issues related to trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, and major life changes, like having a baby.
She says the challenges we face as we move through various phases of life can seem overwhelming and isolating. It doesn't have to be this way. She truly believes that each individual possesses the power within to live to their highest potential, and she’s here to support your journey to a place of hope, compassion and self love.

You know what the most trite advice is about babies and sleep? “Honey, sleep when the baby sleeps!” It makes me think of a meme I came across on Instagram that said, “Sure. And I’ll do laundry when my baby does laundry and wash bottles when my baby washes bottles.” When the baby sleeps, that may be our only window of time to get to the umpteen things we have to do.
One of the most polarizing and confusing topics for a new mom is “To sleep train or not.” There are some parents who are die-hard believers in the Ferber method and others who prefer co-sleeping, and others who fall somewhere in between. First and foremost, there is no right or wrong method. You do what is right for your baby and your family and your schedule.
What I aim to provide you with is knowledge. If you’re a mom who is unsure what to do to help your baby go to sleep and sleep well, this is the episode for you.
My goal is to keep things as objective as possible, (you know I am a journalist, it’s how my thinking is hardwired), so I want to present to you two different perspectives so that you come out of this more aware and self-assured on how to handle sleep when it comes to you and your baby or babies.
On today’s episode, I am joined by Kelly Murray, a certified sleep consultant and Amber Price, MD, a pediatrician and breastfeeding consultant, who lives and teaches child-led parenting. Enjoy - and don’t fall asleep during this episode! ;)

As the adage goes, “Nine months on; nine months off.” It takes about 9 months to put on the baby weight during pregnancy, and roughly that amount of time to lose it. But for many women, it’s not that easy. I know I can relate after having my twins! Now imagine having the added pressure of being in the spotlight on TV, which sadly does add 10 lbs, all while juggling life with a new baby.
Today, I’m interviewing someone who has done it all and more, Mara Schiavocampo. She’s a three-time Emmy Award winning correspondent for ABC News based in New York, chart-topping podcast host, and best-selling author of her memoir “Thinspired,” which documents how she lost 90 pounds after her first child. Unbelievable! Mara is a longtime member of the National Association of Black Journalists. She lives in New York with her husband, two children, and their rescue dog.
She’s here to tell us her story and give us some tips along the way. Get ready to get thinspired!
