  • Living Your Rich Life Might be Closer Than You Think

This week, we were inspired by the words of author and podcaster Ramit Sethi to talk about what it really means to live a rich life. Ramit’s philosophy is that rich doesn’t necessarily refer to your financial situation, and while money can help us in life, it is important that we first get clear on what being rich even means to us as individuals. Hallie joins me as we talk about our versions of what it means to live a rich life, how we are able to put those things into practice now, how to become aligned with your partner’s vision of their rich life, and how you can start today. It can be as simple as a daily cup of coffee at your favorite cafe, having someone clean your house once a week, fresh flowers delivered to your door regularly, or ordering whatever you want off the menu regardless of the price. Budget for what brings you joy and fills you up, and eliminate whatever gets in your way. See full show notes.

  • The Worst “Best” Advice I Got Early in My Career

This week, we talk about the best and worst business advice that we’ve ever received. People are always willing to offer advice based on their experiences and successes, but how can you know what advice is right for you? When you get advice, it is worth asking the question — is there a better way to do it? Don’t take anything for granted and don’t wait for permission to run your business in a way that feels right for you. Hallie and I discuss how failing big and failing often can teach you so many lessons that you will never learn if you don’t act and take risks. We also dive into the intentions behind our actions and how you may be subconsciously setting yourself up for failure. See full show notes.

  • Choose Your Hard — Pain From Mediocrity or Pain From Growth

Our first Project|U retreat for our 2021 session was in June, and we dove right into deep spiritual conversations. One of the topics that got brought up was the fact that personal growth or making changes in your life can be very painful, but the alternative is the pain that comes from staying in mediocrity and not taking action on your biggest goals. You need to choose your hard — growth or inertia. This week, we talk about why change can hurt, and how to reduce the pain of personal growth through inner work. We discuss how to be more present during times of change so there is less resistance, and offer a few practical steps for how to recognize you need to make a change and move toward a more conscious lifestyle. This week, we dive into what it means to be a steward of your life, and why it’s important to use your success to contribute within your organization and at home, rather than for self-gain. Then, I share the story of my 2014 journey to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The intense physical and mental challenges of the climb to the top, along with the beautiful backdrop of Africa, was the perfect way to learn just how interconnected we are with nature, the power of managing your mindset, and how to laugh through the pain. There were so many lessons along the way. Taking on challenges is one of the best ways you can learn. Hallie and I also talk about how to relate these lessons to business and how we can know when we are in too deep, or when we need to just keep pushing. See full show notes.
