The 80's and early 90's were a time when hotel seminars were all the rage.
The process looked something like this: An author would publish a best-selling book on sales, money making and the like, and then offer up small, inexpensive seminars to give people another taste of the material on offer. These small seminars would end in a sales pitch to a weekend getaway or multi-day seminar, which would often culminate in another pitch for things that often had little to do with the original idea.
That was then. What about now?
In today's episode, Chris shares some thoughts on this classic scheme from the 80's and shows how many of the tactics still exist today in a modified form.
You'll learn about the hotel seminar boom of the 80's and early 90's and how it was used to generate a lot of money, even though its results were often questionable.
You'll discover how these practices have moved online, providing a greater reach for so-called "experts" to peddle their solutions to an unsuspecting public.
You'll learn how the weaponization of social media has created new opportunities to mislead and misinform those who don't do their due diligence.
Join Chris as he takes you on a trip to the 80's and back, and offers advice and insights into the tactics we see on social media every day.
Enjoy!
