MISSION
To improve the lives of children & strengthen society by protecting every child's right to the love & care of both parents after separation or divorce.
VISION
The overarching goal of the National Parents Organization (NPO) is to promote shared parenting by educating parents, divorce professionals, and legislators and by reforming family courts and laws in every state. We envision a society where:
Shared parenting after separation or divorce is the norm;
Children’s natural right to be nurtured & guided by both parents is fully honored;
Society treats fathers & mothers as equally important to the well-being of their children;
Children are happier & more successful because their loving bonds to their parents are protected after parental separation or divorce; and,
The courts arrange finances after separation or divorce so that both mothers & fathers can afford to house and care for their children & themselves.

What is Gaslighting?
Gaslighting is the psychological manipulation of a person usually over an extended period of time that causes the victim to question the validity of their own thoughts, perception of reality, or memories and typically leads to confusion, loss of confidence and self-esteem, the uncertainty of one's emotional or mental stability, and a dependency on the perpetrator

Welcome to The Aftermath. A podcast about divorce, custody battles, family trauma, and the healing thereafter. Today you will meet two warriors in the fight against the injustice of broken families.
You will meet Dr. G. Mick Smith, the author of BURNING AMERICA- a powerful book about a fight to correct the injustices of child custody. You will meet Kindra Riber, a legislative advocate changing the landscape of parental alienation. Riber is leading legislative reform on equalizing custody laws.
Together you will get the tools you need to fight the injustices of divorce, break-ups, child custody, and family trauma. Smith and Riber will deliver the experts and inspiration to you weekly so you will start the process of healing. The Aftermath is a safe community of healing and stories of survival. Divorce and family trauma are hard- together we will lock arms and create a coalition of wives, husbands, partners and parents who want to heal fractured families.
Please reach out if you would like to contribute to the stories we are covering. You are not alone. Divorce, Custody Battles, Parental Alienation and Family Drama is a bitter pill to swallow. Together we are stronger.
In this episode, we are going to talk about WHY we need to talk about divorce, custody issues, and family trauma. We need to lock arms, especially if you are struggling through a divorce or high-conflict custody battle. The Aftermath hosts, Kindra Riber and Mick Smith talk about their challenging situations. They are making their pain their purpose.
Mick Smith, the author of Burning America, was heartbroken and confused when his wife started playing a custody game with him. His story, is one of the challenges, fighting the courts and proving that his child needed the love and guidance of both parents.
Kindra Riber, a legislative advocate has fought for her children for over 3 years- amounting in over $120,000 of debt. She continues to fight for her sons and is taking this monumental test and making it her testimony. In fact, she was falsely accused of child abuse and continues to navigate her way through legal woes.
Both Riber and Smith understand the mental tolls it is taking on families--and especially the children. It is important that we voice our truth and work with legislative reformers to make a difference in the family courts. It is important that all competent parents have free access to their children for better development.
The hate, sorrow, and frustration that results from a high-conflict divorce or separation hurts our children the most. The hosts are fighting the battle to bring justice to broken families and championing for hurt children. You will understand the difference between custody and visitation and why you need to keep fighting! You are not alone!

Welcome to the safe space of The Aftermath, a podcast that will educate and inspire you. Divorce, family trauma, custody battles, parental alienation and everything that is wrong with families…
Smith and Riber are advocates for healing the family unit. Their stories are raw, yet the lessons learned are real. The epidemic of broken and fractured families is a reality in today's culture. The statistics of divorce are climbing and the pain of child custody issues is palpable. Smith and Riber are advocates for the healing of people suffering from a bad divorce or difficult custody battle. They are the experts who will be your guides to healing.
G. Mick Smith is the author of the book, Burning America, which illustrates the confusion, terror, and judicial missteps of a terrifying custody battle. His book is winning accolades for its raw commentary on the injustice of family law and the sheer fear parents face.
Kindra Riber is a legislative advocate fighting for the rights of victims of parental alienation. Parental alienation is the systematic brainwashing of children caught in a custody battle. The court system does not provide the support or knowledge to adjudicate fairly. Both hosts bring their stories, their knowledge, and lessons learned to start the healing process of those going through a painful divorce, custody fights and extreme trauma that stems from a bad relationship.
Know that you are not alone. Know that there is help. Know that there is a community of people just like you who can guide you through this complex process. Kindra Riber and Mick Smith bring to you legal experts, mental health professionals, and poignant stories of those warriors fighting a fight that sometimes feels all too lonely. We are better together. We will heal in the aftermath.
Welcome to The Aftermath.
