I've had the opportunity to speak with travelers of all kinds on this podcast; from warriors, entrepreneurs, best-selling authors, and so much more! But today I'll be talking with the first musician to come on the podcast! My guest Andrew Brantley is the lead singer and guitar player for The Orange Constant, a vintage rock/jam band based in Athens, Georgia. . I got to meet Andrew, as well as the rest of the band, a while back when they came into my city to perform. After talking with Andrew and the guys, and getting a behind-the-scenes look of the show. I was amazed by their work ethic and their dedication to their craft. Each of them has come a long way. . For Andrew, his passion for music began when he was in high school. After becoming more proficient with the guitar, as well as with song writing, he began to study music more in depth while in college. It was then when he started meeting the other guys, and The Orange Constant was formed. From there they went on to perform in venues all around the southeastern United States. Expanding their reach as time went on. . In this episode Andrew tells us about how he came into music. As well as the challenges faced in the early days of traveling and performing with the band. We also discuss how to maintain discipline when building your craft. Why you should be prepared for set backs, and how they can benefit you. In this episode I'm joined by Kristen Czudak, creator and author of the travel blog Yonderlust Ramblings. . I was looking forward to talking with Kristen because, like me, she enjoys active travels. In this episode I had the honor to speak to and learn from Dr. Itay Gil, who is the Founder and CEO of Protect Israeli Security Solutions. Dr. Gil is also a Captain in the Israeli Defense Forces. He began his career as a special forces paratrooper, and was eventually chosen to be a part of Israel's elite counter-terrorism and hostage rescue unit, Yamam. After serving some time with Yamam, he eventually became the chief close-quarter combat instructor for the unit. Now as the leader of Protect, Dr. Gil is sought out by numerous media outlets for his expertise; including the History Channel, BBC, and Al Jazeera. He also has had the opportunity to travel all around the world to provide Krav Maga and security training to various military and law enforcement agencies. Some of which include; the Ukrainian President's security detail, Russia's Spetsnaz Alpha Group, and the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team. He also provides training for civilians. I had the opportunity to train with him during a seminar that I attended while I was living in England. In this episode Dr. Gil joins me to tell his story. Talking about his career in the military and his journey to become a Krav Maga instructor. We also discuss dangers around the world, and how the state of today's society could compromise people's safety and security. I also ask him to share some of his expertise, and offer us some tips on how we can protect ourselves both at home and while traveling, should the need arise. Today I'm joined by Baret Fawbush, also known as Truexodus throughout the internet. Baret is a Pastor, a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, a firearms instructor, and one of my teachers. I had the opportunity to train with him a while back during one of his concealed carry courses. Baret began his journey as a man of faith at age 15. From there he went on to Bible College to become a preacher, and eventually earned his Master's degree. Now he is a Pastor for a small congregation in southern Indiana. Baret also grew up around firearms, with many lessons centered around safety and hunting having been taught to him by his father. Though after a terrible incident that occurred while he was attending college, he began to train with firearms for self-defense. Now, after years of training, he's become a world-renowned instructor. In this episode Baret joins me to tell about his journey as a man of faith. He also shares his story from his recent trip to Israel. A place that I've got to visit as well. We also discuss firearms training, and why you should pursue things you want in your life regardless of what other people might think of you. This was definitely a powerful conversation, one that I certainly enjoyed, and I know that you all will too! In this impromptu episode of The Blog Readings (TBR) I discuss being resourceful when you lack resources, why you should just get started, and how to have accountability in your life.

This month of January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. So today on the podcast I'm joined by Jalyn Fawbush of Zera House, a non-profit organization that is on a mission to provide safe haven for women who have been victims of human trafficking. Human Trafficking is defined as the illegal practice of procuring or trading in human beings for the purpose of prostitution, forced labor, or other forms of exploitation. Simply put... it is modern-day slavery. And as of now there are millions of slaves being trafficked around the world, many of whom are women and young children. Now Jalyn, along with Zera House, look to provide a safe home for women who have been victims of this awful crime. Helping them to find healing through counseling, building life skills, job training, and much more. In this episode Jalyn and I take a deeper dive into human trafficking. We talk about how she became active with this issue, and why human trafficking is such a wide-spread criminal enterprise. We also discuss ways that you can keep yourself and your loved ones safe, both at home and while traveling. As well as how you can support victims of human trafficking so that they can find healing.
