Often when we interact with a narcissist, we aren't aware. We don't realize the signs of narcissism when we are interacting with a friend, family member, or significant other. In these relationships we can feel taken advantage, not thought about, and even discarded. Am I experiencing a trauma bond? In today's show we are exploring trauma bonds, what they are, the signs of a trauma bond, and why we get into them in the first place. Trauma bonds are extremely addictive and challenging to break away from and move on to find our own true identity. The reason for difficulty is based on our upbringing and programming. We give words immense power, and in the process we lose sight of action. Even though actions speak louder than words, we tend to forget that all together. We forget that in our relationships and within ourselves. We listen to what people tell us and we forget to see if they follow it up with action. There’s a tendency of finding ourselves in friendships and relationships that push our boundaries, if we have any to begin with. The relationships that we feel are true love may be a trauma bond instead. People we know may use manipulation and gaslighting to get what they want from us, keeping us confused as to what is really happening in the relationship. Some people know how powerful their words are and use profanity or racial slurs to depict their feelings, causing pain and sadness. Others realize the power they have and use the silent treatment to hurt others by cutting communication entirely making the other person feel in prison. When a spouse tells you every time you have an argument that they want a divorce. The power of that word is intense and causes pain and also is extremely controlling and manipulative.

The other people in our life mirror us in ways we sometimes are unaware.
