There’s been a call for President Ramaphosa to do something about the banks roles in manipulating the rand and this comes after the Standard Chartered bank of the UK admitted to manipulating the rand and it wasn’t just one bank but a number of banks. According to Unisa Professor Boitumelo Senokoane, President Cyril Ramaphosa will not act against the banks over rand fixing. Prof Senokoane, joins the popular narrative that the president's strong links with big corporate and monopoly capital will hinder him from taking the banks to task.

In South Africa, learner transport remains a significant challenge, particularly in rural areas. According to the Statistics South Africa General Household Survey 2022, over two-thirds (66,5%) of learners walked to school, with Limpopo, Free State and Mpumalanga being the most common areas where children walk long distances to school.
How does this affect a child’s access to education and ability to perform well in school? What happened to government-funded school transportation?

Attackers professing to be from N4ughtySec, a cyber extortion gang that claimed responsibility for an attack on TransUnion in March 2022, have announced they “never left” South Africa. The group said they have access to credit bureaus TransUnion and Experian’s systems and would leak all the data they hold about clients if their extortion demands aren’t met.
