Here’s another chance to hear my interview with Robert Snodgrass from season five.

The irrepressible winger – now of Hearts – plied his trade at West Ham back then, and we hear how a tough Glasgow upbringing grounded him for when his big chances came at Livingston and then Leeds. Robert dips into his trove of masterly prank phone calls, and there’s an amazing soliloquy on how to make the absolute best of yourself as a footballer and a man.

As Gareth Bale announces his retirement, here is a quick, no-frills, bonus listen – from the Big interview archive, Harry Redknapp talks about his experience with a young Bale at Tottenham Hotspur, and how that spell was the making of a player who would become one of the best in the world.

Today - January 6, 2023 - saw the sad news of Gianluca Vialli's passing. Luca was an incredible guy who I first met in 1995 and welcomed as a guest on The Big Interview in 2016. We kept in touch throughout the years and this is my tribute to a very special man.

p.s. Here's my 2016 Big Interview with Luca

Following the tragic passing of Luca Vialli, here's another chance to hear my interview with the great man from season two.

I'll record a personal tribute later today.

Thanks

Here’s another chance to hear my interview with Gianluca Vialli from season two.

Gianluca was my favourite footballer during the 1990s, and I had the honour of getting to know him at his peak. He graced Serie A with his goals during a golden age of Italian club football, winning the league and getting to three European finals with Vujadin Boskov’s Sampdoria – an unfancied club who caught the imagination with their togetherness and sheer will to will. At Juventus, Luca played amid a mouth-watering array of talent, as part of the Turin side’s Tridente attack, culminating in a Champions League win on his final game. We hear about how coach Marcello Lippi’s pressing, offensive style at Juve broke the mould of the Italian approach. Gianluca also gives incredible insights into his time at Chelsea – falling out of favour with Ruud Gullit, replacing Gullit as boss, and then his shock and anger at his own unmerited sacking. My friends, it’s simply one of the best Big Interviews ever.

Just before Real Madrid play in the Copa Del Rey – the start of an avalanche of romantic and unpredictable football in this incomparable competition – here are some of the many reasons why I can’t take my eyes from it. This one goes out to my friend and colleague, Simon Hanley, who we lost on December 31, his 60th birthday.

Hola!

Welcome to part two of the Q and A with myself and Pete Jenson.

Here we chat through Spain's performance in Qatar and the future for La Roja, the lost art of defending and who would be the bargain buy from this World Cup.

Enjoy

As Argentina parties like it’s 1986, Graham and Pete Jenson take your questions: What were the in-game calls from the coaches that helped create a final for the ages? Will Messi make it to a sixth World Cup? And what went wrong for the dancing Brazilians?
