  • Episode 221 – Leveraging Relationships And Reinvention with Michael O’Neal
I'm originally from Ohio, and lived there for 12 years. Grew up Catholic (I'm a recovering Catholic now) and played every sport known to man when I was a little kid. Became a Steelers fan back then. Steel Curtain and all that. Got in a lot of trouble in school too. (No surprise to those of you that know me). At 12, we moved to a little 'burb outside Philadelphia where I was one of three gentiles in the entire town. I had an entire drawer of Yamikas. That was great...they were warm on my head and velour.

In between 10th and 11th grade my parents decided it would be a great idea to move down to a little redneck town in Florida called Spring Hill, which I hated for every second I was down there. (Well, except for you Renee...you rocked.) In fact, I think my bags were packed on stage as I accepted my high school diploma.

I bolted back to Philly and had stops in Newark DE, Long Beach Island NJ, and Palm Beach FL, where I graduated from music school. I then finished up undergrad at Temple University in Philly and studied communication, and this new thing called the "Internet". (It was 1994).

I became a web designer, and worked that field for 15 years. I still do design and development, but only if you hold a gun to my head. In 1997 I moved to Boulder Colorado, and have lived there and in Denver for almost 13 years, until 2012 when I moved to San Diego. After a few brief stints working for other people, I found myself to be truly unemployable around 2005, and have been on the entrepreneurial track ever since.

From 2004-2008, my parents would fall ill, and basically "level" me in all aspects of my life. Emotionally, financially, etc...They both passed away in 2007, just 7 months apart.

I tried to "muddle" through 2008, and didn't have much success. But I decided to take actual time to mourn, so in 2009, thanks to my wonderful friend Melanie, I went to Europe to spread their ashes everywhere I could. You see, I had a "dream" as an adult to surprise my parents with a trip to Europe, so this was my best substitution. So, I got a little Italian Parmesan Cheese shaker, and I ventured off into the wild blue yonder. And they are *everywhere*. In the Sistene Chapel, the Beaches of Normandy, Notre Dame...you name it, they're there.

I arrived back in the States, healed, broke, and happier than I'd been in years. But I knew that I no longer wanted to trade a dollar for an hour, so I went looking for something else. That's when network marketing and internet marketing found me. It's been 4 years since I found that world, and the transformation it's made in my life has been nothing but profound. I've met amazing people in the network marketing, internet marketing, life coaching, and entrepreneurship world. Every single day I learn from them and they impact me.

In August 2013, I started a Podcast called The Solopreneur Hour - Job Security for the Unemployable. It's aim is to show the other unemployable people of the world the correct path to business success on their own terms. It's been an amazing ride. I'd love if you'd have a listen: http://solohour.com

  • Episode 219 – Climbing The Mountains In Your Business with Cathy O’Dowd
Cathy O’Dowd is the first woman in the world to climb Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain, from both its north and south sides. The years she spent on or around Everest were, for her, a degree ‘in living’. The insights she discovered about herself, and about individuals and teams under intense stress in the face of overwhelming challenge, are ones she has been sharing with her corporate audiences ever since. She has been a professional speaker for 20 years and has presented her message to companies in more than 40 countries on six continents. Her stories touch on themes of importance to anyone trying to get the best out of themselves or their people.

Cathy, who grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, has climbed ever since leaving school. She was completing her Masters degree in Media Studies when she saw a newspaper advert for a place on the 1st South African Everest Expedition. Six months later she was the first South African to summit Everest.

She remains an active adventurer. She was part of the team that did the first ascent of Nanga Parbat via the Mazeno ridge and her most recent expedition was a ski-mountaineering ascent of Mount Logan, the second highest peak in North America.
Cathy now lives in Andorra, in the Pyrenees mountains in Europe, and does rock-climbing and ski-mountaineering in her spare time. She is also active in charities focused on female leadership, notably the Astraia Female Leadership Foundation and the Rwenzori Women For Health initiative.

  • Episode 218 – Lessons Learned By Being Placed In Facebook Jail
I was blocked from Facebook... as of this time I am still blocked 6 days and counting. What did I do? They would not tell me. They asked me to submit a state ID with some information hidden. I submitted that the first day they asked and have heard nothing since except "We'll get in touch with you at the email address you provided after we've reviewed your ID. You will now be logged out of Facebook."

It's caused havoc with people texting me, emailing me, even contacting my wife on Facebook asking "What happened to Brian?" I have had people email me saying, "I am sorry I offended you!" thinking I defriended them. It's affecting my business as well since I can't manage my pages, client pages, or my ads.

In this podcast, I will share lessons that I have learned through this unexpected and unnerving event.

  • Episode 217 – Learning How To Be A Go-Giver with Bob Burg
Bob Burg shares information on topics vital to the success of today’s businessperson. He speaks for corporations and associations internationally, including fortune 500 companies, franchises, and numerous direct sales organizations.

Bob regularly addresses audiences ranging in size from 50 to 16,000 — sharing the platform with notables including today’s top thought leaders, broadcast personalities, Olympic athletes and political leaders including a former United States President.

Although for years he was best known for his book Endless Referrals, over the past few years it’s his business parable, The Go-Giver (coauthored with John David Mann) that has captured the imagination of his readers.

The Go-Giver, a The Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek Bestseller, has sold over 500,000 copies. Since its release it has consistently stayed in the top 25 on 800ceoread’s Business Book Bestsellers List. It has been translated into 21 languages and is Bob’s fourth book to sell over 250,000 copies.

Bob is an advocate, supporter and defender of the Free Enterprise system, believing that the amount of money one makes is directly proportional to how many people they serve.

He is also an unapologetic animal fanatic and serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Furry Friends Adoption and Clinic in Jupiter, Florida.

  • Episode 216 – Ready For The New Year? Forge Ahead By Analyzing Your Past!
Are you ready for the new year? I suggest you start by looking back at last year first before you start planning ahead. Sometimes, we are so busy in our business that we forget to review what happened in our business this prior year.

It starts with looking at your books. Do you know where your business is growing and where your business is shrinking? Can you sense any trends? You need to see what happened last year and start focusing on what made you the most income and stop focusing on things that are declining in your business.

Next, you have to look at your Google Analytics. I had 25 websites and deleted a few that were just not getting the interest or traffic that I hoped for. So I need to now focus on the ones that are growing.

In this episode, I will offer some insight and tips to help you start the new year out on the right footing.
