When you're overweight, diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, and had what felt like a near-death experience, you tend to reevaluate your life and what brought you to that point. That was me between 2019 and 2020.
I USE to be 268 pounds, sick, sluggish, stressed out and living as a diabetic. BUT, things changed when I made a concrete decision to transform my entire life, lose weight, and beat diabetes.
Having lived through one of the worst times of my life, and being able to bounce back from the struggles of once living with type , it became my passion to share my story to help others make lifestyle changes to reverse disease.
That’s why I launched this podcast. In fact, this marks the one year anniversary of the Beating Diabetes Lifestyle podcast, season 1.
In honor of the show reaching its one year anniversary, I thought why not re-air my very first episode, which I believe is relevant to where we are today.
Today, I no longer need to take insulin (as confirmed by my doctor). I'm very active, and I feel great! You can too!
My goal is to create awareness around diabetes, and help others win this battle against diabetes and win!

I was recently asked if Zero-Sugar drinks like Coca Cola Zero were considered sugary drinks, and if they are a good alternative to regular high sugary drinks when it comes to losing weight. This question also gets asked concerning zero-calorie and other diet drinks.
If you’re serious about losing weight, but unsure if choosing zero-sugar or zero-calorie drinks are the right move, I have something for you to think about to help you decide.
Let’s face it. Soda tastes good.
In this week’s episode, I share some practical answers from a different perspective.

I often hear from people who feel stuck when it comes to knowing what to do to start controlling diabetes, losing weight and being healthy overall. Even some who don’t have diabetes share their struggles with weight loss.
They feel stuck mainly because there are so many diet style choices and exercise programs. There are even mixed beliefs about the effectiveness of diabetes medications and treatments. People are frustrated and confused.
That’s how I felt when I began my journey to where I am today.
In this week’s episode, I want to do things a little differently. I feel the need to share more of my personal story to hopefully help encourage you to not give up on your pursuit of good health.
My story may not be unique or even special. But, hopefully you can find a little inspiration when you need it the most.
In this week’s episode, I’m going to share:

The same is true even if you don’t have prediabetes or type diabetes, but may be concerned about developing these conditions in the future. You can reduce your risk by maintaining a healthy weight, following healthy eating principles, and being physically active on a regular basis.
Again, it’s going to require work. So if you’re ready to put in the work, this is the podcast episode for you.

If you or someone you know recently learned that you’re at risk of, or have developed prediabetes or type 2 diabetes, the news was probably scary. I personally know the feeling.
But, as I later learned, diabetes is not an automatic death sentence.
Depending on your situation, prediabetes and T2D can be controlled with some lifestyle changes and medical treatment where necessary.
The key is, how?
In this first of a two-part podcast series, I share my personal journey and the steps I took to begin taking control of diabetes, and achieving good health. I was able to lose over 80 pounds in less than a year. And most importantly, I’m alive to tell my story of reversing type 2 diabetes so I can help others transform their lives too.
In this week’s episode, you can expect to:
