The period after Mark Warburton left Brentford in 2015 was one of huge change at the club
Marinus Dijkhuizen arrived as Brentford embraced a new way of working, but his time in charge lasted only a matter of months. Dean Smith took over in November 2015, with Thomas Frank later joining the coaching set-up, as the Bees continued to develop the model that Matthew Benham believed could take the club forward
This Beesotted episode which was the podcast's 1000th is a great snapshot as we discussed that period and helps join the dots between the end of the Warburton era and what came next
We look back at the changes, the bumps in the road and the evolution under Smith and Frank as Brentford gradually established themselves as a Championship side with a clear identity and a very different way of doing things
In hindsight, this period feels hugely important. Warburton, Dijkhuizen, Smith and Frank were very different chapters, but together they tell the story of Brentford working out exactly what sort of football club it wanted to become
