A person’s final words to us can feel very weighty—whether it’s a heartfelt request, a hope they entrust to you, or a direction that reshapes what comes next. Those kinds of words have a way of sticking, nudging us into new roles or new courage, sometimes even changing the course of our lives. As we look at Jesus’s final words before His ascension, we see that same kind of invitation—one meant to transform us, guide us, and send us out with purpose and confidence.

Finding peace in the middle of life’s everyday chaos can feel a lot harder than staying calm in an actual emergency; at least in emergencies we’re too focused to panic. But in the swirl of busy schedules, mixed‑up plans, and moments where everything feels just a little off‑the‑rails, peace can feel like a distant concept. That’s why I love this moment in John 20, where Jesus steps straight into a room full of fear and uncertainty and simply says, “Peace be with you,” reminding us that peace isn’t something we manufacture—it’s something He brings with Him.

We’ve all had those moments where we insist something didn’t happen unless there’s a photo to prove it—because if you ate the prettiest meal of your life or spotted a celebrity in the wild, you need evidence. It’s funny how we can stare straight at something—our phone, a simmering pot, the obvious answer—and still miss it entirely because our minds are somewhere else.
