James and Jonathan are joined again by Tessa to discuss The Blackening. The Blackening is a 2023 American horror comedy film directed by Tim Story and written by Tracy Oliver and Dewayne Perkins. The film follows a group of seven Black friends who reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer. Forced to play by his rules, the friends soon realize this ain't no game.

The film explores themes of race, identity, and the role of Black people in horror films. It has been praised for its humor, its social commentary, and its performances from the cast, which includes Yvonne Orji, Jermaine Fowler, Melvin Gregg, Grace Byers, Antoinette Robertson, Sinqua Walls, Jay Pharoah, and X Mayo.
