Guest Bio:

Dr. Naidoo has worked the entire system of mental health care for children and teens- psychiatric and medical emergency rooms, consultation-liaison service, inpatient child and adolescent units, partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient programs, community mental health clinics with case management, academic outpatient clinics, in private practice both in person and virtually. She has assessed and treated thousands of children, teenagers and young adults who have experienced suicidal thinking, made suicide attempts, and/or engaged in self-harm. She has treated the gamut of mental health disorders for young people including ADHD, ODD, IED, PTSD, GAD, OCD, ASD, MDD, CPDD, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia.

Through working with children and teenagers, she has also worked with countless parents and family systems to support the improvement of child mental health. As a psychiatrist she has expertise in diagnosis, providing therapy, and medications for young people. She has sought additional training in suicide assessment/CAMS, anger management and de-escalation, positive parenting, conscious parenting, autism assessment/ADOS, Integrative Psychiatry, Nutritional Psychiatry, Life Coaching, Energy Medicine, and Emotional Freedom Technique.

She's also the founder of the Mahogany Table Community, where black women professionals gather to reclaim their time, rediscover joy, and trade survival mode for full-on thriving.

When she's off-duty, Latasha's likely on a run, binge-watching a show, diving into a good book, or laughing so loud you'll hear her from across town. Dr. Lindsay Semler is the Executive Director of Clinical Ethics and Department of Medicine Faculty at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and a Lecturer at Harvard Medical School. She is also the Founder & President of Semler Ethics Consulting, LLC. Her background includes critical care and emergency nursing experience, as well as education, quality improvement, and leadership at UPMC and Penn Medicine. She was also the director of the system-wide Ethics program at INTEGRIS Health. Lindsay obtained her BSN and MSN from the University of Pittsburgh, Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a focus on moral distress from Johns Hopkins, and the Advanced Training in Healthcare Ethics certificate from the University of Washington. She is certified as a Healthcare Ethics Consultant (HEC-C) and critical care nurse (CCRN). Her bioethical areas of interest focus on organizational and preventive healthcare ethics, addressing moral distress, and teaching future generations of healthcare providers.

She graduated from Columbia University and New York University School of Medicine, completing her residency and chief residency at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. She is a practicing physician and associate professor of Internal Medicine who has gained a reputation for helping fellow writers achieve medical accuracy in fiction. Her poetry and non-fiction have been published in JAMA, The Annals of Internal Medicine, Canadian Medical Association Journal, Journal of General Internal Medicine, and Great Weather for Media. She believes in science and knocking on wood, and currently lives in Omaha with her husband and three children.
