In this week’s episode, I delve into the extraordinary life and career of Alec Maxwell, the visionary behind Kloss Films and husband to the brilliant Edward Enninful. Originally from the Wirral, just outside Liverpool, we chat about Alec’s path from studying fashion at university, becoming a lecturer to founding Kloss Films - Alec offers a really interesting insight that anyone wanting to get into the fashion and film industry needs to hear. We also explore his perspective on breaking into fashion today, why he hates the word ‘networking’ and the controversial topic of unpaid internships. Plus, he shares a behind-the-scenes glimpse into some of his most famous collaborations, including a shoot with Rhianna, which I was obsessed with. We also talk about his meticulous planning schedule and why he lives by the mantra of "failing to prepare is preparing to fail."

Hilarious, relatable and inspiring: I can’t think of anyone better than GK Barry to kick off the new season of The Break with. In this episode, I speak with the TikTok creator turned podcast host, Grace Keeling - widely known as GK Barry. Over the last 3 years, Grace has become a TikTok sensation and chart topping podcaster, all thanks to her outrageous stories, characterization of GK Barry and brutally honest humour.

I love this episode because I think it’s so important to hear creators thinking long term and Grace is doing exactly that: she talks about how she makes her money, and how she’s planning to spend it.

The Break represents the gap between what you see as an ideal lifestyle and how you build a plan to actually get there. For me, Patricia Bright, this began in 2009 when I was creating beauty and fashion content for YouTube alongside being a student and working at an investment bank. After seven years I hit one million subscribers and learned a lot of financial lessons the hard way en route. So, in 2018 I founded my first company, The Break. 

I founded this network for women like me, to demystify the journey to personal success and provide access to the tools and education needed to improve financial literacy and bridge the gap to our ideal lifestyles. I was able to navigate the world of personal finance as a fashion-lover, parent and content creator because of open and honest conversations with my own network of family, friends and mentors.
