Mental Health Impact: So What May Happen When it's Over? Slowly life is resuming its normal pace, but not for everyone. As restaurants open, schools resume classes and people go back to work, there is still a percentage of people who are taking their time getting back into life as it was pre-pandemic. For severe cases of what Dr. Bregman calls "Cave Syndrome," normalcy may never be achieved as PTSD could set in permanently unless professional mental health action is taken. Dr. B. breaks down his prediction of the state of mental health after the pandemic.
Dealing with Disappointment: Dashed expectations and inconsiderate behavior from family or friends can lead to great disappointment. As humans, we are bound to be disappointed when things don't go as expected. But how should we deal with hurt feelings and smashed hopes? Disappointment is a natural reaction when things don't go quite as planned or feelings are not taken into consideration. Just deal with it? Not so easy. Dr. B. has a few tips on how to get on with life after a serious dose of disappointment.

The Fear of Heading Back to the Office - Let's face it, there are some silver linings to the pandemic. Working from home is just one of them. Heading to the home office doesn't involve a commute, special wardrobe, or dealing face to face with troublesome colleagues. Now with the vaccination, managers are slowly calling their employees back into the office. As many are looking forward to seeing office friends and experiencing in-person collaboration, many are fearful of exposure to the virus, social interaction, and all the drudgeries that come with working away from home. Could this be a form of Cave Syndrome? Dr. B. breaks it down and helps those with advice about heading back to work.
Lazy About Hygiene - Have we become the Great Unwashed? Surveys show that many of us have become lazy about taking showers, wearing clean clothes, and washing our hair during a time where we are not going out much, if not at all. Why did the pandemic make us lazy about the way we look and...smell? Dr. B talks about how self-esteem is connected with hygiene and how Americans need to start cleaning up their act!

It seems many Americans are having a hard time with the idea of a Vaccine Passport. Is it the concept of having to prove you've been vaccinated or is it possibly the term, Vaccine Passport? Back in the late 1800s, Americans were required to carry medical proof when proving they were inoculated against Smallpox. Even today many schools require children to be vaccinated before they are allowed to enroll. Vaccine certificates have also been mandated for many years in various countries as they require proof of inoculation before entering. Why are people so reticent about carrying a vaccine passport today? Does the word "passport" turn people off, worrying that civil liberties are in peril? Or is it the inconvenience of having to carry a certificate around from place to place for entry. Are passports protection or a pain in the side? Dr. Bregman breaks down the psychology behind the vaccine passport.
The Stages of Cave Syndrome - People are slowly resuming their life as it was before the pandemic. Yet not the entire population. Why? Because a percentage of people worldwide are suffering from what Dr. Bregman coined as Cave Syndrome. Cave Syndrome is the hesitancy or resistance to resuming normal activity outside the home for fear of becoming infected with Covid-19. Dr. Bregman explains that Cave syndrome is on a spectrum and not all those suffering from CS are shut-ins. On this week's podcast, Dr. B. discusses Cave Syndrome, its various stages and some behavioral modification advice to help people with anxiety so they can start to resume life to its fullest.
