  • How to Collaborate With Your Team

Buy-in doesn't just benefit the organization; collaboration can also increase job satisfaction and improve company outcomes.

By emphasizing the value of teamwork and collaboration, you spotlight the importance of individual contributions to the greater whole. When workers understand that their level of performance has a ripple effect, the value of doing a good job and working together as a cohesive unit soon becomes self-evident to everyone involved.

Want the Tools and Knowledge to Become a More Collaborative Leader?

EMPLOYEES MUST BE ABLE TO TRUST THEIR LEADERS.

    • Trustworthy leaders do not have an "us vs. them" mentality. They view their employees as peers whose ideas, opinions, and skills are valuable.
    • Trustworthy leaders have integrity. Their words match their actions. They are ethical, and their actions are above reproach.
    • Trustworthy leaders are honest. They are not secretive, and they are transparent about the state of the business.
    • Trustworthy leaders put their employees ahead of their own ambition. They are others-focused and want to see their employees succeed and grow.
    • Trustworthy leaders are competent. They have the knowledge and skills to do their job well.

Effective communication is a critical link between a manager and an effective leader. In that training module, you will learn more about best practices and habits for more effective communication. However, we cannot skip emphasizing the importance of your communication skills to gain employee buy-in and commitment during this lesson.

Start Getting Your Team Bought In

    LEADERS MUST PRIORITIZE TWO-WAY COMMUNICATION

    • Leaders must put processes in place to ensure that every employee understands the agency's vision and goals and their part toward achieving them.
    • Leaders must regularly communicate the team's progress toward their goals and recognize both group and individual employee contributions.
    • Leaders must solicit employees' feedback on the goals themselves, objectives to achieve them, and improvements.
    • Leaders must prioritize face-to-face, two-way communication vs. impersonal, directive emails.

All of the tech solutions to communication are awesome when effectively used. However, we find that this valuable handy tool is misused and sometimes abused by unknowing managers. Be careful to consider the best ways to gain trust and buy-in by the method of communication you choose to use.

In many, if not most, situations, you need others to support your ideas to have their best chances of succeeding. As a manager, you cannot obtain the level of expected results for your organization without getting collaborative buy-in from those you work with, those who work for you, and your boss if you work for someone. Results-Driven Managers proactively take steps to get committed support for ideas, plans, and, in general, what they want to get done. I will collectively refer to all these things as your "ideas" in this podcast.

    Get Your Team Bought In

Workers are engaged and connected with management when a company has excellent employee buy-in. They have a keen sense of belonging to a team. They collaborate. Workplace relationships are built on transparency and mutual respect.

Getting a commitment of support from someone means that once your ideas go forward, that person will be committed to supporting them and not second-guessing or criticizing them. It is best to view getting collaborative support for your ideas as a five-step process.

  • How to Be A Great Manager and Leader

Are you an executive or manager who has been responsible for a team of people? This podcast is designed to help you get more done and make your life and your associate's life much more productive, less stressful, and far more rewarding. In this podcast, I will share leadership tips and management strategies that will, if you use them, make you a high-impact manager.

I will share four tips for becoming a great manager and leader.

Visit Our Website for Online Training Courses

The best managers are great leaders.

But the truth is that a manager has to be a leader and a manager. A manager's job should not be only about directing or controlling; the role of a manager should be about motivating and inspiring.

We need leadership in management as much as we need management in leadership. The path to becoming a manager generally is someone who has been a great employee. Someone who comes to work on time does a great job and is very effective at what they're doing. And now the company needs a manager. Often the company turns to this great employee and then makes them a manager.

    Contact Us For More Information

Their role is now entirely new. It is about getting their job done through other people on their team. And rarely is the case that an employer takes the time, makes the time, and invests in training that new manager on how to be a leader.

So the first tip to being a great manager is to realize who you are and how your team judges and views you. You see, often in managers, all that power goes to their head, and now they're the boss, and they start acting like the boss.

They go to what comes naturally to many, utilizing a command and control method. In the end, Command and Control may work, but it only works temporarily until their team gets tired of it and begins disrespecting the new manager. They need to learn how to get their employees to want to get the work done for them.

It starts with mutual respect. How much admiration have you shown or shared with your team as a manager? Because it's a two-way street. Being self-aware and investing in your self-development are essential factors in becoming a very effective leader.

You have to have confidence in yourself. And your confidence is what your team thrives and feeds on.

If you're not truly good at everything and, be honest, you're not, especially in managing people and being a leader. There's nothing wrong with that. Your people are going to respect you for that. And that's just being real. It has the opposite effect if you're acting like a know-it-all.

Your people see right through that. It erodes the level of respect you get. You have to know how you're viewed.

I constantly hear this from managers and executives. "Well, my people all love me. They never say anything wrong to me. They never tell me what I'm doing wrong." Well, of course not.

They're your employees. They're your direct reports. They're not going to be that honest with you. They won't.

I'm going to say it this way. They're going to kiss your butt. And make sure you feel good about yourself because nobody wants to tell the boss that what they're doing is ineffective. It just doesn't work that way. And if you're highly confident, but in a way that's not earned, you're on a challenging path.

I hope you gain some insight from these Four Steps and Best Practices to being a Great Manager and Leader.

  • How to Be an Inspirational Leader
When workplace teams aren't just engaged but inspired, that's when organizations see real breakthroughs. Inspired teams are themselves far more productive and, in turn, inspire those around them to strive for greater productivity and results.

We believe that anyone can become an inspiring leader (they're made, not born). However, in most companies, there are far too few of them.

    Contact Us for More Information

In employer surveys, we found that 34% of respondents said they agree or strongly agree that their leaders were inspiring or unlocking employees' motivation. Even fewer felt that their leaders fostered engagement or commitment and modeled the culture and values of the corporation.

Instead, inspiring leaders use their unique combination of strengths to motivate individuals and teams to take on bold missions – and hold them accountable for results. And they unlock higher performance through empowerment, not command and control.

This podcast contains some of the best practices and secrets for how leaders both inspire and get excellent performance.

Take Our Online Course on How To Be An Inspirational Leader

First, always remember you are the key. Your team feeds off your attitude, actions, and mood. I often describe it this way as a reminder. It would help if you imagined you were in your documentary. You have a camera crew following and recording you every day. Sure, the camera will pick up on the things you do right. More importantly, it will also expose every mistake you make. That will often be what is keyed in on and edited down to.

This is how many of your team members remember will judge you. As long as you are being positive and fair while setting a good example through your actions, your missteps will be minimized. However, if you focus only on the negative, rarely acknowledge their hard work, ignore the same policy standards you expect them to follow and set a poor example through your actions. The scale tips, and you have a leadership problem.

Of course, there are many different leadership styles, but certain basic skill sets must be applied if you aim to become an Inspirational Leader.

Inspirational Leaders help their team members motivate themselves to higher levels of performance. They help employees create a positive work atmosphere in which they are empowered to act positively. And they win the trust and respect of their direct reports.

Inspirational Leaders have a resilient mindset. They focus on what needs to be done to succeed. Their attitude includes an unshakeable belief that the team can find the solution. Team members feed off this unwavering belief that they can make their organization grow.

Inspirational Leaders must believe in themselves. If they don't, employees won't get behind them. It's that simple. This attribute of self-belief is essential when the organization faces challenges.

In this podcast, you will learn the seven secrets to becoming an Inspirational Leader.

  • Managing Your Sales Team By the Numbers The RIGHT Way!

In this podcast, I share my thoughts and experiences on the right way to determine and manage the KPIs that support your sales process.

Many uninformed sales managers approach this very destructively, thinking their way is constructive. We don't know what we don't know, and during this show, I aim to fill in some gaps in knowledge and mindset. It is a lot less complicated and much more effective if you manage your salespeople "by the numbers," which means using measurable results for sales and sales-related activities for your evaluations.

Ready To Start Managing Your Sales Team The Right Way?

However, as a manager of salespeople, you must always keep on top of mind that behaviors create the numbers.

Visit Our Website for Information on Results-Driven Sales Manager Training

The most significant misstep sales managers can make overly focusing on the numbers. They use the numbers as a bat over the head of underperforming salespeople and sometimes top performers, which I've never understood. Taking this approach is fraught with unintended consequences.

Sure, you can drive short-term numeric improvements by banging on your team about the numbers, but is that really what drives sustainable long-term results? Never. It creates a wedge between you and your sales team members that is often difficult, if not impossible, to recover.

The most effective sales managers use measurables or numbers to indicate some missing or flawed behavior. As a Sales Manager, the numbers require you to conduct a "root cause" analysis and determine what is taking place where these numbers are being affected.

  • How to Deliver Effective Performance Management

This podcast is on how to deliver performance feedback, which is one of our favorite topics, and One of our best-selling training programs; As I was thinking about doing this podcast today, there are a couple of things I want to be able to cover to help people understand our journey in how we learned.

Start Delivering Performance Management That Works!

Not only the importance of performance feedback but also the how-to deliver feedback it's critical. We can talk a lot about the importance and what it means, but we got to come down to what the instruction manual is on how to deliver. Feedback because, you know, employees really, really love feedback.

Take our Online Course Performance Management That Works

The topic of performance management can bring dread to managers and employees alike. But a successful system can positively impact the bottom line, provide a path for goals to be achieved and increase employee morale. This resource center can help managers implement and maintain a successful strategic process.

    Overview

No Matter What Business You're in, You're in the People Business

For most organizations in the United States, performance reviews are used to support decisions related to training and career development, compensation, transfers, promotions, and reductions-in-force or employment termination. Generally, the performance review process includes setting clear and specific performance expectations for each employee and providing periodic informal or formal feedback about employee performance relative to those stated goals.

Recent trends, however, include a less formalized process focusing on more feedback and coaching rather than a time-consuming paper trail.

    Communication

Managers can prevent or remedy many performance problems by ensuring that two-way conversations occur between managers and employees, resulting in a complete understanding of what is required when it is required and how everyone's contribution measures up.

    Everyone benefits when:

    • The employee knows exactly where they stand in relation to achieving goals and reaching performance milestones that contribute to career development, promotions, and more.
    • The manager gains insights into the people's motivations for working for them through the crucial conversations.
    • The organization retains motivated employees who understand their role and the roles of others in contributing to the organization's overall success.

Start Managing Performance Of Your Team LIke Never Before

    Regular Feedback is Key

The ability to give feedback is a superpower. Little nuggets of feedback can change lives. But the word "feedback" has a negative connotation, perhaps because not many people are comfortable giving it.

One mistake many managers make when giving feedback is focusing only on poor performance instead of speaking to successful performance.

  • The 7 Step Process to Fire an Employee with No Blowback!

Firing an employee is stressful and often delayed because many managers and executives don't know how to perform this onerous task. In this podcast, three former front-line business executives will give you the 7 step method that, when followed, makes it far less stressful and professional.

Start Managing Your Team's Performance Like a Pro!

I have been using it myself for decades and know how pain-free it makes this awful task. In fact, it very often ended with a thank you and a hug from the person I was terminating. It takes work and preparation, but you will be totally confident and prepared when you have to make a move.

Take Our Performance Management Training for More Learning and Tools

    Performance Management Documentation

An effective performance management program is beneficial to both the employer and employee. It helps employees correct any shortcomings to become valuable, contributing workforce members. This process is designed for "Fire Prevention," not "Fire Fighting" Catch missteps early and correct lousy behavior or habits early. The performance does not progress to a more extensive, more involved, and damaging situation.

Want to Deal With Difficult People With Confidence?

    USE DOCUMENTATION

All matters involving employee discipline, discharge, injury, or any other circumstance leading to employer liability should be carefully and accurately documented. Months or even years after the incident, when memories have faded, the careful, thorough documentation of events will help refresh recollection and tell the story accurately.

Among the documentation that the employer should gather and retain are:

    • Witness
    • Initial complaints, including any complaint forms
    • Written materials relevant to the investigation, including e-mails or notes.
    • Meetings with the employee at
    • The employee's personnel file, including any previous discipline reports or investigations and notes relating to any verbal or written
    • Discipline or termination
    • Individual notes of supervisors or other management personnel
    Using Progressive Discipline

Progressive discipline is a method of discipline that uses graduated steps for dealing with problems related to an employee's conduct or performance that do not meet clearly defined standards and policies. The ultimate objective of progressive discipline is to help employees correct conduct problems and resolve performance issues in the earliest stages.

    Verbal Warning
    • Written Warning
    • Final Written Warning
    • Termination

    Do not procrastinate.

Take action. Act in a timely manner. These issues will rarely, if ever, correct themselves and more often get worse. Poor performance or behavior affects the underperformer's work, but it also negatively affects their peers and often other departments. You will not ever know the level of the impact until after the issue is corrected with the problem employee. Sooner and with tact works every single time!

    • Probe for more detail based on responses to further understand the pain points (Probe)
    • Confirm that you've heard them correctly
    • Offer a solution that your product provides for that pain

Discover in this podcast how to change your approach and, in turn, change your results. It works; I've used it myself and rarely not closed a client...if I want them. I've trained this to hundreds of salespeople, and they swear by it. Listen, and you will too.

Most salespeople jump immediately into their pitch at the beginning of a prospecting meeting. Prospects don't need an angle; they need your help to identify whether your product or service is, in fact, a good fit for their challenges. Rather than starting a sales meeting with a pitch, seek to understand the challenges the prospect faces.

When a prospect feels that you want to understand their situation,

he will open up and let you in. Of course, this requires a genuine desire to help and understand a prospect. However, show that prospect that your first goal is to understand what is going on in their world. The candidate will start to open up, and you will develop a connection that goes far beyond surface-level rapport. Remember, great salespeople aim to go deeper than just rapport. They want to establish a strong relationship with their prospects.
