  • Strategic Plan in 3 Easy Steps

I discuss how Great Strategy is only the starting point in this podcast. You can have the best strategy ever created, but it won't go anywhere unless you are disciplined in execution.

Many excellent strategies never attain the goals they are trying to achieve because managers do not allocate the needed personal time and focus to the strategies. Poor follow-through in strategic execution gets poor results.

Many managers lose focus on strategic direction. We will help you stay on point with your action plans and strategies.

They use these Strategic Leadership techniques, processes, and methods to make their plans succeed.

    Become a More Strategic Leader

There are three steps to Be An Effective Strategic Leader

    • How to Create a Strategic Plan
    • Managing With Strategic Direction
    • How to Achieve Goals

The Top 10 Skills a Strategic Leader Must Have

Strategic leadership is a leader's ability to visualize, plan, lead, and make the best out of their resources to execute strategies efficiently and successfully. Productivity and management mindset play significant roles — how leaders think equals how they lead. A strategic mindset reflects strategic agility: the ability to see how the big picture relates to the here and now.

Results-Driven Managers identify their goals first, using the SMART criteria.

Specific Measurable Achievable Responsible Party & Timeline

It's typically not hard to identify the vital SMART Goals for your department.

But, for many managers, it is hard to identify the strategies or steps for achieving the goals. This is like the recipe for success.

Like baking a cake, your goal and the strategies need specific steps and ingredients, including using the proper tools and then baking for the perfect amount of time.

You will come up short or even fail without all the steps and elements needed for a fully executed strategic plan.

  • Don't Be Fooled By HIRING MISTAKES the 14 to avoid

In this podcast, I will share how Good Hiring Decisions are critical to the success of your organization.

Uninformed managers utilize a flawed interview approach that leaves hiring success up to more chance than skill.

Using a "go with your gut" mindset when choosing a candidate leads to poor hiring decisions that create a ton of extra work and dysfunction in your organization. A wrong hire can find you scurrying to replace someone you hired on a "hunch," which means spending additional money.

When it comes to wasted payroll and lost sales, you could be losing upwards of 25 percent of the annual salary for the role you're attempting to fill.

    Start Hiring Great People

In this podcast, I will show you how to avoid the 14 most common Hiring Mistakes and, in turn, end up hiring the most qualified candidates.

Strong team players will contribute to your company's culture, just as bringing in the wrong person will disrupt problem-solving. Additionally, replacing a bad hire shortly after they begin working with you can cause existing team members to feel unsettled, leading to lower productivity.

You must go beyond the minimum efforts of most average or underperforming managers who treat this responsibility as a task.

You must have a repeatable successful process to build a successful team. Before you begin interviewing, you must first develop a list of competencies, job requirements, and evaluation criteria which I share in a previous podcast on How To Hire Great People.

  • 3 Easy Steps to Reduce Employee Turnover

I will share the three easy best practices to reduce employee turnover in this podcast.

Let's face it, when you lose an excellent long-term employee, it takes time and money to recruit and hire replacement employees. Replacing the employee distracts from efforts that could be made to make the organization more successful, rather than spending time recruiting, hiring, and training replacements.

Want To Invest In Yourself to Become a Well-Trained Manager?

Your best and most experienced employees are more likely to impact your organization more than someone new to the job. Retaining your best employees should be one of your most important management responsibilities. The objective of this show is to help you to identify the reasons why your best employees may leave and show you how to develop proactive retention strategies to eliminate these reasons.

Some of the Essentials to Employee Retention are:

    Recognizing Your Employees

Recognition is an essential emotional reward that increases employee motivation and engagement, increasing the likelihood of recognized employees staying with your organization.

    Employee Development Programs

One of the most powerful things you can do is to provide additional employee training. Upgrading their skill sets through training programs helps employees learn skills that will improve their performance and may help move them into positions that keep them with your organization.

    Work Environment

In many team sports, the players who play for the winning team will comment that they gave that extra effort because they were playing for someone beyond themselves. They were playing hard for their fellow teammates. Learn how to create that culture.

Identify Career Paths for Employees with Potential to Grow

Your best employees need to feel confident that there will be promotions based upon objective standards of doing high-level work, along with showing certain aptitudes that fit the job to which the employee will be promoted. Identifying an opportunity for future promotions is an important way of retaining your best employees.

  • Are You Making These REDUCED STRESS Mistakes?

When you feel stressed at work, you may be too overwhelmed to think properly about handling challenges or taking on new opportunities. In this podcast, I will share that there is a real physiological reaction when you're not coping well with work-life pressures — being stressed out can throw your homeostasis out of whack!

As a result, you may start to vent in ways that negatively impact your work. Yikes!

Results Driven Managers are typically much better than most managers in controlling their workplace stress to achieve maximum results. They manage their stress and anxiety by embracing the following behaviors:

    1. Managing your time more effectively

    2. Adopting a low-stress attitude

    3. Avoiding becoming too friendly with your direct reports

Invest In Yourself and Reduce the Stress

My objective in this podcast is to share how you can make these stress-reducing elements part of the way you live your life. Embracing these kinds of behaviors will be a stepping stone to developing your own formula for reducing negative stress and anxiety that affect your performance at work.

  • Selling More With Your Ears!

In this podcast, I will share my thoughts on improving your sales results through your freaking ears. Top sales performers use many vital behaviors. The active listening technique I share is one of the most effective for their high achievements.

However, when I observe the sales behaviors of average or underperforming salespeople, it is non-existent. Coincidence? I think not!

    Why?

It's hard! It goes against human nature. Yes, you know it and have seen this in so many interactions in your life. People listen just long enough to find a gap, jump in, and start talking or solving a problem. Way before they have the whole picture. It's insulting and highly ineffective.

Going to the pitch too soon kills sales. You are not there to sell them something. You are there to solve a problem or fill a need. Shut up and ask enough questions, use your ears and once you have all the information, pitch like hell. Again average sales performers do not take this mindset approach. Certainly, underperforming salespeople do not.

Invest In Yourself & Become a Rock Star Sales Manager

    Follow this Sales Rule!

    Show Empathy before Expertise.

Learn to listen and understand before you start a pitch or presentation. Find the pain points, the needs, the challenges, and desires, then form an effective dialog that will make the sale far more often than you are now. I promise this works.

  • COMPANY VISION Strategies For Beginners

In this podcast, you will learn how to get your entire team to understand and be engaged with your Company's Vision.

When your whole team is oaring in the same direction, marvelous things happen.

Here is what we will discuss:

    • How clearly do you define and communicate the purpose of your business beyond profitability?
    • How satisfied are you with your perceived status and leadership position in your industry?
    • How satisfied are you with the mix, quality, and differentiation of the products and services that you offer?
    • How satisfied are you with your market share compared to the competition?
    • How satisfied are you with the culture of your business?
    • How satisfied are you with the current programs to find, develop and retain your employees?
    • How satisfied are you with the strength of your current business operations and technology?
    • How satisfied are you with the financial health of your company?
    • How satisfied are you with your geographical footprint and your distribution channels?
    • How satisfied are you with your penetration into potential markets, industries, and customers?

Invest in Your Team and Yourself & Become a Results-Driven Leader

Another essential trait of visionary leadership is the ability and the desire always to be open to fresh, new ideas, no matter where those ideas may come from. You should all be open to learning every moment of every day.

Remember… necessity breeds invention. You never know who will come up with the next great idea that will revolutionize what you are doing and how you are doing it.

A critical trait of visionary leadership is allowing people to make mistakes. This is essential if you want to support an atmosphere where your team feels encouraged to think outside the box. If you encourage people to offer input, be creative, and have great ideas, you must be willing to see an idea fail. Use failure as a learning moment for the entire team without judgment or shame toward anyone.

  • Get Rid of Annual Performance Reviews Part 3

Annual performance reviews are so 1980s. Why are companies still using them? Maybe because they don't have another way. In part 3 of this podcast, I share the hows and whys of conducting performance feedback in a highly effective process. Quit wasting your time and energy on something that you hate doing, and your employees dread.

Now you have a way that works.

Become a Master at Performance Reviews

The topic of performance management can bring dread to managers and employees alike. But a successful system can positively impact the bottom line, provide a path for achieving goals, and increase employee morale. This resource center can help managers implement and maintain a successful strategic process.

    Overview

For most organizations in the United States, performance reviews are used to support decisions related to training and career development, compensation, transfers, promotions, and reductions-in-force or employment termination. Generally, the performance review process includes setting clear and specific performance expectations for each employee and providing periodic informal or formal feedback about employee performance relative to those stated goals. Recent trends, however, include a less formalized process focusing on more feedback and coaching rather than a time-consuming paper trail.

Invest In Yourself and Your Team by Mastering Performance Feedback

    Communication

Managers can prevent or remedy many performance problems by ensuring that two-way conversations occur between managers and employees. This results in a complete understanding of what is required when it is required and how everyone's contribution measures up.

Everyone benefits when the employee knows exactly where they stand in relation to achieving goals and reaching performance milestones that contribute to career development, promotions, and more.

    • The manager gains insights into the people's motivations working for them through the crucial conversations
    • The organization retains motivated employees who understand their role and the roles of others in contributing to the organization's overall

    Regular Feedback is Key

The ability to give feedback is a superpower. Little nuggets of feedback can change lives. But the word "feedback" has a negative connotation, perhaps because not many people are comfortable giving it.

One mistake many managers make when giving feedback is focusing only on poor performance instead of speaking to successful performance.

This podcast will teach you how to create a new mindset to counter these natural but destructive tendencies.
