Ben Bishop came into the league relatively unknown but has developed into one of the top goalies of his era. A native of St. Louis, Bishop is by far the greatest goalie in the history of St. Louis hockey. He's also had a crazy year...from a tornado hitting his Dallas home, to Stars Head Coach Jim Montgomery being abruptly fired, to a pandemic pausing the season, Bishop has seen his fair share this season. He also was the best player on the ice in a Game 7 double OT loss to his childhood team, the St. Louis Blues, last spring. A game in which Bishop, who's basically taller than Cam and Andy combined, stood on his head and nearly advanced Dallas to the Western Conference Final. Bishop has had an unreal career that may not have happened if he wasn't invited to play in a 2004-2005 lockout charity game involving several future Hall of Fame players who happened to be NHL stars at the time. Bishop was just 17 years old. Blues management happened to be at the game and drafted Bishop in the 3rd round the following June. You probably won't find another player in the NHL who's experienced anything close to what Bobby Ryan has been through. The former 2nd overall draft pick in 2005 is a success story no matter how you look at it. Ryan's career shouldn't be measured based on how many points he puts up or how many goals he scores. None of that even matters. Ryan lived on the lam for several years of his childhood, the authorities were looking for his dad who was wanted following a very serious domestic violence incident with his mother. They changed their last name, hid in Canada, then California where Federal Marshals eventually tracked the family down, breaking down the front door with guns drawn. While his father served time in prison, Ryan used hockey as his escape. His career took off and eventually landed him in the Ontario Hockey League and the NHL. Today Ryan is a success story on and off the ice. He entered alcohol rehab during the 2019-2020 season only to score a hat trick in his second game back. He's married with children with millions in the bank. You might think you know the Bobby Ryan story but until you listen to this interview you really don't. Where do we start with Dustin Penner....The former NHL power forward and two-time Stanley Cup Champion Ducks, Kings) brought the heat on the Cam and Strick Podcast. This guy has an amazing story that led him from a small Amish town in Canada to playing junior college hockey. Who else in the history of the NHL played junior college hockey? Dustin Penner did, before eventually finding his way to the University of Maine. After red-shirting for a season, he led the Black Bears to the NCAA National Championship game. That led to an NHL contract with the Anaheim Ducks. The rest is history for Penner who remains the last player to sign an offer sheet without it being matched by their current team. His career had some ups and downs and was relatively interesting, but probably not nearly as interesting as his life away from the game. Penner talks Corona-virus conspiracy theories, to hanging out with the Prince in Saudi Arabia, to living his best life in Newport Beach, California. This could go down as one of the most underrated and entertaining episodes we've had on the Cam and Strick Podcast.     

Big Eric Lindros stopped by the Cam and Strick Podcast to chat about his incredible life. In hockey. This guy reached Gretzky-like status long before ever stepping foot on an NHL rink. He backed it up too before head injuries derailed his career. He opens up about his head injuries, beef with owners and team executives, and how the Scott Stevens hit changed his life forever. Lindros, a former Hart Trophy winner, Had much of his prime taken away because of injury but still managed to carve out a Hall of Fame career. Why didn’t he want to play for the Quebec Nordiques and how is he most misunderstood? Hear a side of Eric Lindros never heard before. Also, hear Cam refer to a memory that has stood out in his life forever. Cam recalls playing against Lindros in his first-ever NHL preseason game. The only problem is Eric Lindros didn’t play for the flyers at that time. Figure it out Cam!

Ryan Whitney, a former 5th overall NHL draft pick whose NHL career included a trip to the Stanley Cup Final as well as a roster spot on the 2010 USA Olympic team. The former defenseman played for several teams including the Pittsburgh Penguins who drafted him out of the USA Hockey National Team Development  Program. While he was a good NHL defenseman, Cam and Strick didn’t invite him on to discuss his hockey career. We are more interested in his career and life after hockey.
