Jeff Singer, M.D. states that numerous physician groups support making birth control pills over the counter. He states that teenagers already have access to over the counter birth control products.  He also talks about a middle of the road approach some states are taking by making the drugs available “behind the counter,” letting pharmacists be the prescribers. Singer also says because of “informed consent” patients should have the right to self-medicate.
