  • The Catholic Man Rejects Consumption

Today we discuss how the Catholic man must live simply. It is by rejecting consumerism and by turning away from more stuff that we open ourselves up to actually serve God's will in our lives. Our earthly possessions call to us, what conversations are we allowing them to have with us? We go into statistics, social examples, and truths about how living simply is necessary for our service to God and others.

    • Does God Want You To Be Successful

Today Sam and John discuss the dignity of work and how to balance the desire for career advancement with your faith. We also give great advice on how to get ahead in your career and discern changing your job. Pride, power, and pleasure are the ideals held by society with work, but it is by pursuing these ideals that we instead find frustration, anxiety, and unhappiness.

Leszek Sikon - Originally from Poland, Leszek came to the UK 17 years ago. He earned a decent living as a middle manager in retail yet this career left me feeling wholly unfulfilled. Leszek knew that he wanted to create something that would last. He was used to getting dirty and working with his hands – so he was thrilled to learn that Hereford College of Arts ran a blacksmithing course. The next thing he knew, he quit his job and started training.

Since then he has found his passion in producing a series of superb artisan tools and knives, using age-old skills to produce modern objects of desire. His inspiration comes from the history and the traditional methods, getting to grips with hammers, tongs, and fire. Having these skills has paid off more than a career in retail ever would.

    • White-Supremacist Converts to Catholicism Speaks on Truth and Beauty

We are joined by a former white supremacist and now a devout Catholic man of letters, Joseph Pearce. We discuss his conversion to Catholicism from a life of hatred, G.K. Chesterton, and why men must read poetry. Joseph shares with us the intimate tie between poetry and prayer, he clarifies our thoughts on truth and beauty, and drives home how poetry identifies and assists in the completion of an authentic man. Please join us in this conversation.

"True perception comes with virtue, specifically the virtue of humility,

it is humility that gives us a sense of gratitude,

it is gratitude that opens the eyes to wonder,

and it is only when the eyes are open to wonder that we are moved to contemplation,

and it is only when we are moved to contemplation that the mind is open to dilation,

and it is dilation which is the full opening of the mind to reality." - Joseph Pearce on The Catholic Gentleman

Joseph Pearce is a premier literary biographer and author of our time, especially in reviewing the depths of the Catholic literary tradition. He is the author of acclaimed biographies of G.K. Chesterton, Oscar Wilde, Hilaire Belloc, and J.R.R. Tolkien, and books on English poetry and literature.

He has hosted two 13-part television series about Shakespeare on EWTN, and has also written and presented documentaries on EWTN on the Catholicism of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. His verse drama, Death Comes for the War Poets, was performed off-Broadway to critical acclaim.
