Ginny Tonic and Charlie are off on a traveling adventure as they visit the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (aka C2E2). For this week episode we present our first ever flashback Bottoms Up episode. After a brief into by this podcasting duo, we jump back to Episode #8 of the Charlie Tonic Hour and share the story of how these two tried an amazing Sazerac with the classic cocktail maestro Rommel Wells over at the Rookwood.

There are two distinct parts to Episode 70. In one part of the show we find the (relatively) sober and thoughtful Ginny Tonic and Charlie that you’ve come to know and love. They share stories from a fun weekend with pin ups and beer, recommend a book about online dating and flip things by discussing the finer points of online recommendations eventually bringing you a nice song to close out the show. Sandwiched between these segments of the show is a boozy Bottoms Up segment like you've never heard before. They do a drinks segment in four parts with the notorious CJ Biro but the trick is that each segment comes after a gap of about one hour and several drinks. You will have to listen and tell Ginny how it sounded because she doesn't remember the end of the night all that well. 

With the warmth of spring finally being felt in Cincinnati, Ginny Tonic and Charlie are in the mood for some fresh and fruity drinks. What better way to do this than with some homemade syrup using fresh ingredients? Making your own syrups at home is easy and it is a great way to personalize your cocktails with any flavor combination you can dream up. Ginny has been making quite a few different flavors lately and brings two different ones to this week’s show. The past 68 episodes have included innuendo, hints, discussions and even a few confessions. But for episode 69 we are going all the way. You wanted it badly, you asked for it and we are going to give it to you. An all sexy episode is here for your aural pleasure. First, we catch you up on our weekend including the naughty comics of S.P.A.C.E. Next, we give into peer pressure and share the Victorian Erotica panel from last year’s Steampunk Empire Symposium. Finally, we end with a kinky-creamy drink and a sexy song from Max Raabe. So lie back, close your eyes, and just give in to the pleasure.

Ginny and Charlie get hot this week. Stoli makes some very good flavored vodkas but their jalapeno vodka is really unique. While other vodkas seem to be in an arms race to see who can convert junk food into drinkable form the fastest, Stoli went the other direction by creating the only pepper vodka with real heat. Listen to the show and hear Ginny and Charlie sampling it for the first time and then they try four different cocktails made with the Stoli Hot. Things get steamy fast!

On this week’s episode Ginny and Charlie head separate directions, with Charlie exploring all Tricon has to offer and Ginny getting up close and personal with some hot monkey loving. Their review of the film Looper somehow ends in discussion about feminism and Wonder Woman and then Ginny shares her love of Annette Funicello tells you why you need to go Back to the Beach. Finally we end with an off putting canned beverage and a song from Japanese girl-group Shonen Knife.   

The spirit of exploration and discovery calls to many of us who love libations. The thrill of discovering a new flavor, method, or winery is rivaled only by the pleasure in recommending your new treasure to friends. Ginny and Charlie stared the week trying Seeker’s Red Wines and today on Bottom’s up they try the white varieties: A creamy un-oaked Chardonnay from California and a bright and fruity Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.

This week Ginny and Charlie take a break from the comic convention circuit to enjoy a very fun weekend in Lexington. First they stopped by Cosmic Charlie’s for a rare Doctor Bombay/Ford Theater Reunion double-header. Then Ginny lead the way on the inaugural event of Tonic Tours. This means a full day of good food, good drinks, and great friends. All this alcohol leads to a discussion of the past, present and future of craft cocktails and then Charlie leads a discussion about two of the most important things in life: Death and Facebook. From there they seek out some wine. The Seeker Wines have five wines in their collection and Ginny and Charlie are trying the reds this week. Finally they close out with a song from the King himself and bid farewell to Episode 67. 

Charlie and Ginny were separated by several states this week but that didn’t stop them from bringing you a new episode. Like a true boozehound, Ginny is able to track down quality whiskey in the most unlikely locations. In between taffy shops, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, and airbrush t-shirt shops in downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee you can find Davy Crockett’s Tennessee Whiskey. Come along as Ginny tastes all six of their offerings and brings a bottle back home for Charlie. And as for the cocktail…the less said about that the better.

To say that Ginny Tonic and Charlie have been racing through the last few weeks attending conventions and celebrating life would be an understatement. As these two come off their third consecutive weekend on the road, they take time out to record the show (well, most of it anyway) and reflect on what’s been happening. With that reflection comes a discussion of travel, “con life” and the families you make on the road. From there they take you to an extended Bottoms Up segment as they attend the opening party for Yard House at the Banks in Cincinnati, OH.
