The Cinebytes

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals! It's Christmas Eve-Eve and we're dropping ANOTHER holiday hit down your chimneys with It's a Wonderful Life from 1946 rounding out our...I'm sorry? What's that? OH! Sorry 'bout that, this is actually a horror podcast, so we're chatting about It's a Wonderful KNIFE from 2023...much more modern, but much less likely to land on anyone's yearly holiday watch list, I fear.

Regardless, we had a good time talking about this update on a Christmas classic, and for everything this ISN'T, what it IS, is a fun, bloody, fairly funny, horrific time!

What would you do if your entire world suddenly...wasn't? Enter Winnie Carruthers, your surrogate to exploring exactly that. Press play and let's see how this plays out!

Happy Holidays, everyone! LET THE PUNISHMENT BEGIN!

What happens when Grandpa convinces you that Santa is evil...and then you IMMEDIATELY see "Santa" do some evil crap that very night?? Well, naturally you sit in an orphanage and let that marinate for a decade or so, until YOU'RE put into the big red suit to see how YOU hold up. There's NO WAY this could end badly!

We sat down to talk about the poorly received, but cult approved 80's Christmas slasher, Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)...and it gets wild, y'all. Poor Billy...

PUNISH! PUUUNIIIIIISHHH!!!!!!

COME AND GET IT! Dinner is served for The Cinebytes Thanksgiving week episode on The Menu (2022)!

We had a great time sitting down at the dinner table to chat about this STELLAR horror comedy that came out of NOWHERE late in 2022! Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult delight in a surprisingly peppy and upbeat culinary adventure, where the guests are completely immersed in the experience...more than they ever imagined possible, in fact...

Who knew both dinner AND the chef could be so warm and so cold all at once?

Bring you appetites and don't forget your napkins...this one gets messy!

Brace yourselves, folks...this might be a rough one...but, as always, we'll try to make it as fun as possible anyway!

We sat down to talk about the VERY heavy, VERY gross follow up to Danny and Michael Philippou's VERY heavy and VERY gross "Talk to Me"...BRING HER BACK (2025)! Looks like the RackaRacka squad is back up to their old tricks (along with some new ones) with an EXCELLENT Sophomore effort, telling a very "the blind leading the blind" story. Too soon?

Had enough of body swaps, cult rituals and gore? Well, TOO BAD, because here's some more! Trust me, those aren't spoilers...it'll take a minute to wrap your brain around what's happening in this one...we're still not sure WE'VE totally figured it out...

But, that doesn't change the fact that we LOVED this film! We're very impressed and looking forward to whatever is on the horizon Down Undah!

Happy Halloween, Cine-biters! As mentioned on the previous release...we have a tradition 'round these here parts. On Halloween...we talk Hellraiser!

Today marks the beginning of season 3, so naturally we're onto the third installment of this wild ride of a franchise! And this one brought along all manner of new hurdles to clear...

Besides Pinhead, our entire crew of Cenobites is replaced with their understudies, plus a couple thrown in for good measure. Is that good news? Probably not, but it's what we're dealing with!

We've got a final girl rivalry happening here, but let's be honest...neither of them hold a candle to Kirsty (who does make an appearance!).

AND we get a bit of a payoff re: Elliot Spencer vs. Pinhead in a mirror match! FIGHT!

Catch all the dirty details on all this and more inside! - (plus the standard Cinebytes goofin', of course). Great background noise while getting your costume on and/or commuting to/from your Halloween celebration destination!

What could be more Sinister than Ethan Hawke and James Ransone teaming up for another epic horror film with Scott Derrickson at the helm? Possibly its second installment, releasing October 17th, but we'll find out in a few days!

TODAY, we're covering The Black Phone (2021) to keep that hype train rollin' for part 2 coming out this Friday! We had a blast diving into this beautiful nightmare of a horror movie that's caught somewhere between True Crime and Fever Dream.

What inspiration did Derrickson draw on based on his own childhood, real life serial killers, and the Joe Hill short story this was adapted from? How many iterations does the iconic Grabber mask designed by the legendary Tom Savini have, and what do they mean when the sadistic child killer repeatedly gives himself a face lift? Why are these detectives so bad at their job that they have to rely on the apparent clairvoyance of a local voodoo child?

Find out all this and more by clicking on that little sideways triangle :-)

Don't forget to like and subscribe to stay up to date on all the spooky happenings in The Cinebytes little corner of Halloweentown! And maybe screen your calls...

Can you believe there are people in the world who DON'T believe in vampires?? If they're all as cool as Chris Sarandon, why would you want to live in a world without them???

Join us this week as we sink our teeth into one of our childhood favorites - FRIGHT NIGHT (1985)! Lots of industrial 80's synth, sexy seduction scenes that really ride the line between getting you all hot and bothered, and grossing you out (she's in high school, dude...), and a horror host with the most that had the anthology market on lock long before AHS! How is this Tom Holland's directorial debut????

We. Love. This. Movie.

Love. This. Movie. With. Us.

Greetings, guy and ghouls! Just popping in to drop some audio goodness on ya this lovely Tuesday. The Cinebytes had a great time sitting down with indie actress, director, editor, dancer, martial artist and all-around bad ass Jasmine Kheen, fresh off of The R.I.P. Man's premier just a couple weeks ago, to chat about her career and experience in the indie film industry, The R.I.P. Man itself, and some of her projects past, present and future! You can watch the whole interview on our YouTube channel, but we wanted to share the audio from it here as well! It was a great conversation covering many aspects of film and filmmaking...we hope you're all as KHEEN to dive into this as we were creating it ;-p

Oh my god...OH MY GOD, DID YOU HEAR THAT??? WHAT IS THAT?! SSSHHHHH, listen....

IT'S THE CINEBYTES 50TH EPISODE, THAT'S WHAT IT IS! *Party horns blast*...ok, but seriously, be quiet, there's actually something out there...

Join us for a very special episode as we hit a huge milestone and celebrate hitting the big 5-0 by reviewing The Blair Witch Project (1999) by request! In this episode, we talk about the found footage film that kicked off the craze, as well as being one of the earliest and most successful attempts at viral marketing...and a film that some STILL call "one of the scariest movies of all time" to this day!

Did Heather ever actually know how to read the map? Is Mary Brown telling the truth about what she saw in the woods that day, or is she just a crazy old biddy? What in the holy hell is going on with Mike's chest hair?

We'll answer all these questions and more as we tackle this American masterpiece that's still every bit as influential today as it was 26 years ago! And we'd like to apologize to everybody's moms in advance...
