  • Showing Up for Yourself in Midlife: What Your Kids Learn When They Watch You Do the Hard Thing [Ep 106]

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode!

Have you ever talked yourself out of something before you even gave it a chance?

In this episode, I'm sharing a recap of my Miami Dolphins cheerleader alumni weekend and the move that has my whole life in transition right now. I talk about my yes era, the choreography I drilled in my kitchen, seeing my son find me in the stands, and what it's taken to keep showing up for myself in a season that's exciting and stressful at the same time. Stepping back onto that field 17 years later reminded me that midlife isn't the end of trying new things, it's a chance to try them with more self-trust than I had the first time. I also get into the moving process, the invisible load so many of us carry, and why giving yourself grace is the thing I keep returning to when there's too much on my plate.

    Here’s what you'll learn:

    • How to recognize when it's time to say yes to something outside your comfort zone
    • Why stepping outside your comfort zone can show your kids what courage looks like up close
    • What self-doubt can sound like right after you commit, and how to keep practicing anyway
    • How to reach out to specific people in your circle instead of doing everything yourself
    • Why managing stress through a big transition can start with cooking less and asking for more help
    • How asking help can be a strength, especially for women taught to handle it all alone
    • What regulating your nervous system can look like with 20 minutes of meditation, a massage, or acupuncture
    • Why cutting a few holiday traditions can ease the invisible load without guilt
    • How showing up for yourself can teach your kids more than anything you say to them
    • Why new experiences in midlife can hand you back a part of yourself you'd set down

Whether you're saying yes to something that scares you, in the thick of a move, or learning to give yourself a little more grace in this chapter, I hope this one reminds you that the experiences we almost talk ourselves out of are often the ones we're most glad we chose.

  • What Toxic Chemicals In Conventional Underwear Reveal About Men's Wellness Today With NADS Co-Founder Dan Baird [Ep 105]

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode!

Have you ever thought about what your husband's underwear is actually made of, or whether it's working against his hormone health?

I'm joined by Dan Baird, the co-founder and CEO of NADS, who was diagnosed with low testosterone at twenty-three and found how to increase testosterone naturally through sleep and sun exposure, a journey that led him to question the fabric in his own underwear and eventually build an organic underwear brand free of the toxic chemicals hiding in conventional fabrics, with organic cotton as his non-negotiable.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • Why conventional underwear can contain chemicals like BPA, phthalates, and formaldehyde
    • What sets organic cotton apart from conventional cotton
    • How a neck injury at twenty-one led Dan to a hormone imbalance he didn't see coming
    • Why a full panel blood test explained what years of doctors couldn't
    • How building an organic underwear for men line took thousands of cold emails and a lot of stubborn belief in the idea
    • Why paid ads didn't work until Dan's unscripted, humor-first content took over
    • How ecommerce growth followed once the right message finally landed
    • Why men's wellness conversations are starting to include hormone health
    • How self belief and an entrepreneurial mindset shaped every stage of the business

If you've been searching for testosterone optimization, non-toxic swaps, or what it takes to build a brand story worth telling, this episode's for you.

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode!

Two years ago, I hit record with no real plan and a whole lot of nerves. So what made me keep showing up every single week, even on the days I didn't feel ready, and how did so much of my own personal growth end up happening along the way?

Celebrating one hundred and four episodes has me reflecting on everything two years of podcasting has taught me about myself. I'm bringing you a full life update, including a studio move, a real estate brokerage switch, and an unexpected ballroom dancing opportunity I said yes to. Some of the best life lessons show up when you least expect them, and this one's full of them.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • Why filtering noise from people who don't get what you're doing can protect your energy
    • How a positive mindset can carry you through a season of unexpected life changes
    • What saying yes to something new, like ballroom dancing, may teach you about self reinvention
    • Why dance opportunities from years ago can find their way back into your life
    • How embracing change during a studio move and a brokerage switch can feel more aligned than you'd expect
    • What a life update can reveal about how far you've actually come
    • Why finding purpose often shows up in the small, ordinary moments
    • How taking risks can change your energy and open doors you didn't see coming
    • Why stepping outside your comfort zone doesn't have to feel as scary as it sounds

You don't need to have it all figured out before you take the next step.

If any part of my journey with personal growth, life lessons, or finding purpose sounds familiar, I hope this episode gives you a little push to keep embracing change too.

  • Your Relationship With Money Is Costing You More Than Cash: How to Trade a Scarcity Mindset for an Abundant Life With Scarlett Stanhope [Ep 102]

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode!

Why does the worry about money stay with us even when the numbers on paper look fine?

In this episode, I'm sitting down with Scarlett Stanhope, also known as the Biz Hippie, a life coach with a degree in business management, accounting, and finance, who helps people transform their relationship with money so they can strategically achieve their goals.

Scarlett opens up about the rock bottom that changed everything for her, and she names the three scarcity seeds she sees in almost every client, including the starving artist belief that keeps so many of us stuck. We get into why more income tends to expand a scarcity mindset instead of easing it, and what a weekly money ritual can reveal. This conversation left me thinking about money as one of the deepest layers of personal growth we get to do.

    Here’s what you'll learn:

    • Why our relationship with money often has more to say than our bank balance does
    • How the limiting beliefs we absorb as children can follow us well into adulthood
    • What money tracking can show us that a checking account never will
    • Why living paycheck to paycheck can happen at almost any income level
    • How money management can take away the stress that comes from not knowing
    • What financial independence for women can look like when someone else brings home the paycheck
    • Why affirmations on their own may not be enough to build an abundance mindset
    • How our spending habits can become a tool for creating the life we want
    • Why financial independence can ask something of us emotionally before it ever shows up financially

Whether we're building something of our own, sharing finances with a partner, or simply tired of avoiding the banking app, this conversation gives us a grounded way to look at our money mindset and start building an abundant life with what we already have.

  • How a Retired US Navy SEAL Cut His Stress Load in Half with Christopher Lee Maher [Ep 101]

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode!

One of the strangest things about stress can be how long our bodies keep hold of it after the circumstances that caused it are over, and how easily we stop noticing it's there at all.

In this episode, I'm joined by Christopher Lee Maher, a retired US Navy SEAL, best-selling author, and holistic wellness practitioner in Marina del Rey, whose True Body Intelligence program helps people resolve stress rather than manage it.

Christopher and I talk about the years he handled his stress with alcohol and sugar without knowing that both were making his body stiffer. He walks me through the ten years of boarding school, the seven years in the SEAL teams, and the five years of training for the Olympic trials that stacked into unrelenting pain down his left side, and he's remarkably open about the childhood trauma and the mother wound sitting underneath all of it. We also get into the eccentric contraction work that cut his lifetime accumulated stress load in half, and everything that changed afterward in his sleep, his vision, and his hearing.

What you’ll learn from this episode:

    • Why our symptoms can be the body's way of saying that what we're doing is more than it can recover from
    • How the work harder limiting belief Christopher picked up in SEAL training ran against the way his body operates
    • What separates managing your stress from resolving it
    • Why external validation drove his early goals, and what took its place
    • What Christopher asks himself now before he sets any goal at all
    • How childhood trauma can surface as body tension decades after the fact
    • Why his relationships with food, sleep, and social obligation changed as his stress came down
    • How he describes his own body as passive, and why that changed his entire approach

Whether you're carrying stiffness you've stopped questioning, curious about trauma stored in the body, or somewhere in your own healing journey, this conversation is a grounded look at what our bodies hold onto and what they're capable of releasing.

  • Sunrise Light Before Breakfast: The Meal Timing Habit That Supports Hormone Health In Menopausal Women with Jen Van Horn [Ep 100]

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode!

Do you ever wonder why your energy runs out by eleven no matter what you add to your routine?

In this episode, I'm joined by Jen Van Horn, a holistic nutritionist who has spent more than 20 years working with clients in Florida on the foundations of their health.

Jen and I talk about why the light at sunrise carries information the body reads as instruction, and how those first few minutes outside set the rhythm everything else runs on. She explains what happens when women get up at five, walk into a bright gym, and skip that window entirely, and why so many of them tell her they're doing everything right. Jen also shares the grounding ritual she's kept with her son since he was two, and what changed in her own hormone health once she stopped treating the sunrise as optional.

    You'll learn:

    • Why sunrise light can do more for your day than an extra hour of sleep
    • How to find the exact window where that light does its work
    • Why clouds, buildings, and cold mornings may not be the obstacle you think
    • What leptin resistance can look like in a woman who wakes up with no hunger at all
    • How to front load your protein intake in the first 45 minutes of the day
    • Why meal timing may have something to do with the three in the morning wake ups
    • What cortisol regulation has to do with the cortisol belly fat that workouts don't touch
    • Why plain water may never reach the cells you're trying to hydrate
    • How weight training can change the body in ways cardio can't for menopausal women
    • What Jen keeps on hand for gentle liver support, castor oil packs, and parasite cleanses
    • Why mitochondrial health may be sitting underneath every protocol you've already tried

If you’re ready to reclaim your energy in the easiest, most natural way, this episode is for you!

  • Recovering Perfectionist? Here's How Daily Mantras And Self-Acceptance Bring You Back To Your Authentic Self with Karen Blaine [Ep 99]

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode!

What if the pressure to get everything right was handed to you long before you were old enough to question it?

In this episode, I'm joined by Karen Blaine, a retired hypnotherapist who practiced conversational hypnotherapy for years before turning to writing, and who has since published six books on authenticity, resilience, and emotional well-being, including her newest, The Illusion of Perfection.

Karen and I talk about where the chase for perfect begins and why it takes hold before we're old enough to name it. She walks me through what she does in the first few minutes after making a mistake in a room full of people, and the daily mantras she repeats in the mirror on ordinary days so they're already there on hard ones. I tell her where I've landed as a recovering perfectionist, including the technical trouble we hit right before we started recording and what we decided to do with it.

    What this episode covers:

    • Where the pull toward perfect starts, and the parental expectations that keep it running
    • What to do in the first five minutes after you make a mistake in public
    • How self-talk loops on itself, and where you can cut it off
    • What Karen pictures around herself before she walks into a crowded store, and why she calls it an invisible shield
    • Why a gratitude practice may take the sting out of things going sideways
    • Why highly sensitive people carry emotions that were never theirs to begin with
    • The one thing Karen wishes she'd given herself while her kids were still at home
    • How finding passion changed her granddaughter, and what it can do for the rest of us

Perfect was never the point. This episode is your reminder to choose self-acceptance over performance, energy protection over absorbing everyone around you, and a self-discovery that leads you back to your authentic self.

  • Want A Low Tox Home Without A Full Overhaul? The Plastic Reduction And Synthetic Fragrances Swaps At The Top Of My List [Ep 98]

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode!

Have you already swapped your cleaners and your skincare and wondered what's left to change?

In this episode, I walk you through the low tox changes I'm making in my closet and with the technology in my house, plus the ten swaps I'd start with.

In this episode, I talk about why I've retired the word non-toxic for something I can actually live with, since nobody's crossing a finish line here. I go into the fabrics I've quit buying, the way my mother taught me to shop and consign, and the one in one out rule I've stuck with since. I also share the wearable tech I wanted enough to go try on in person, and what I use instead now that I've said no to it.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • What to look for on a clothing label before anything goes in your cart
    • Why polyester, nylon, acrylic, spandex, and rayon land on my toxic fabrics to avoid list
    • How silk, linen, and organic cotton changed what I'm willing to spend on one piece
    • What no shop September looks like in my house and why my husband knows it's coming
    • Why I unsubscribe from the brands I like most
    • What to do with a new piece of clothing before it touches your skin
    • What to consider before a kid wears a watch or Bluetooth headphones all day
    • How EMF blocking gear and a Wi-Fi kill switch can lower what's coming at you at night
    • Why the synthetic fragrances in laundry detergent may be the first thing I'd change
    • How to hold your phone in a way that keeps it off your head
    • Why I run every choice through my health account before I make it

If you've been searching for non-toxic living, plastic reduction at home, or a clear answer about clothing fabrics, this episode is your invitation to start with the one change you'll actually keep.
