Have you thought about going vegan? Or maybe you are following a vegan diet? Surely you've seen plenty of faux "meat" companies making headlines?
In our multi-media world, there's a lot of conflicting information out there: People telling you to "DO THIS" and "DON'T DO THAT" to be healthy.
Be a vegan. Go keto. Eat gluten-Free.
But what does "healthy" really mean? And might the path to get there look different to each person?
These are some of the questions we ponder in today's episode, which is truly close to my heart, as it's with my little sister, Alana.
Alana was a staunch vegan for over 3 years and this conversation is about her journey, her story and why she chose to stop being a vegan.
This is a truly candid conversation that I have been wanting to record with her for the podcast, as it's a perspective that doesn't get much coverage.
DISCLAIMER: This episode is NOT "anti-vegan" (not at all). There are many people who are thriving on a vegan diet and doing what works for them. This is simply a conversation about a real vegan who is sharing her very real story.
IN THIS CONVERSATION WE DISCUSS:
+ Alana's timeline for when she became vegan (and why) and her journey practicing the diet for 3+ years
+ How each person is a bio-individual, meaning what works for one, doesn't work for all. Learning to pull back the smokescreen and listen to YOUR body
+ A conversation on access, marketing, privilege and recognizing the through line between the health and wellness space and society as a whole
+ TRIGGER WARNING: We also touch on the issue of eating disorders
As always, take what resonates with you and leave what doesn't.
