We’ve had so many conversations about the journey, about what it takes to live a whole, fulfilling and aligned life. As many of you folks have found, the journey often includes a lot of “work”. It’s easy to get caught up in what we think the “work” should look like, in how the journey should unfold. But often we aren’t taught to surrender to ease or to do the work sustainably. Like many things in life, it all boils down to what works for you. What does making space for ease look like for you? What does success feel like to you? What about sustainability? As humans we often encounter the conundrum of “just being” mainly because letting in and trusting ease can be one of the hardest things to do, and as women and  entrepreneurs we are taught that hard work is the only way to success. But often the societal ideas behind the concept of hard work ask us to grind and push and take us farther and farther away from a life of ease, sustainability and authenticity. Today’s guest is someone that is learning the value of slowing down, being intentional and prioritizing the inner work. As a black woman, as a person of color, the pursuit of justice and a more fair and equitable world is something that I fight for. There is no chance of opting out, it is my real life. Justice means different things to each of us but, I think that we can agree that it requires love. Justice requires that we hold up the contrast all around us and that we hold space for humanity, both our own and the humanity of those around us. It can be easy to forget that your voice is powerful. Sometimes, we are afraid to stand up for ourselves, for other folks, or even for the things we believe in. Learning to tap into your voice and the power that it yields can take time but what matters most is that you try. It's important that we speak up even when our voice shakes because this is how we build and care for ourselves and our communities. It's valuable to explore the power that lies in our voices because if we don't we might truly never know how much we can exact social change, communal healing, and our own transformations. Trust is a fundamental part of the journey, whether it’s learning to trust ourselves or the ones we love. It can however be difficult for folks to make space for the vulnerability and openness that trust requires. But like everything else trust is learned and earned over time. The trust we have in ourselves pours into every other aspect of our lives. While this is true, the word “trust” can be a trigger for many as it often brings up the parts of our past where it brought more pain than healing. I often speak about the importance of using your voice and how your message can make a difference. For me, this platform has not only been a way to bring folks together but has also been a great source of personal healing. However, sometimes it is easy to get swayed into thinking about “right” or  “wrong”. Sometimes we get so afraid of messing up that we don’t give ourselves the chance to try. What if there was a way to walk this journey from a place of neutrality? A space where good or bad doesn’t exist and you get to make the next move based on what truly aligns. The purpose of life is not to stop making mistakes, but rather to acknowledge the choices we are making and determine whether or not they are in alignment.
