This is episode 19 and we are nearing the end of season. My guest is Mollie Macarthy-Openshaw, the founder of Mood Swing Wines and Camp Midlife. Mollie is a coach, inspirational speaker, encourager of everyone she meets, and is making the most of her life. From a career as a nurse, raising kids, divorce, creating her own wine label, being the star of a reality show, taking on TikTok, taking midlife ladies back to camp, and hosting self-love retreats.
I met Mollie, where everyone meets these days, on Instagram. I fell in love with her sense of humor and then saw her heart. I can’t wait for you to be inspired by Mollie.

Wendy Harrop was born and raised in California, but her heart has always been in Massachusetts. As an adult, she packed all of her belongings three times for a cross country move only to unpack twice still in CA. As they say, the third time is a charm and she made the big move with her husband in 2013. Trading their condo (c.1985) in the San Francisco Bay Area for an antique farmhouse (c.1785) in rural Massachusetts on 5 acres and transitioning from being a wedding planner to owning a wedding venue she is living her very best life. Since the move, another dream was realized when Wendy and her husband, Keith adopted their daughter, Amelia, from China. There is something about hope deferred that makes one's heart full of joy and glee when the dream is finally realized. She spends her glee-filled days checking off an endless list of farm chores, hosting intimate, interactive workshops and events in her barn, and looking for new and creative ways to share all of this goodness (which is too much for just one family to enjoy!) with the world.

Dan Brown is a lifelong creative, and former communications coordinator and graphic designer for a big city government's museums in the Vancouver area for 20+ years. She retired in 2017 to move to the Okanagan region of British Columbia (think wine, lakes and orchards!) with her husband and daughter. Not content to retire, she wanted to start a graphic design business drawing on her love of all things vintage/heritage, but went to work part time for her local yarn store instead. When the pandemic hit I saw the livelihoods of this region's multitude of artisans, makers, fibre artists, and micro-businesses hit the floor. That spurred me into action, and I started Vintage Creative Works in June. I provide graphic design, writing and social media coaching services for this community, and more importantly, inspiration and support. As a way to connect with her long time friend she is working on the Fabulous Boomer Sisters and a blog is forthcoming. (update with more information when available).

Tien Chiu's career began with a background in mathematics, took a little turn as a technical project manager in the software industry, but it wasn't until a trip to Southeast Asia during the dot com bust that she realized she had the heart of an artist. It was there that she discovered her love of textiles and weaving. That love led her to eventually leave her position at Google, to be a full time artist and educator. She used her blog to grow her audience and you can now find her array of online classes on her website, WarpandWeave.com or you can join one of her weave alongs that attracts thousands of participants.

When Lisa Spector fractured her hand a few years ago, she was afraid she might never play piano again. This was the worst day of her life and at the same time the best, because she realized she had lost touch with what she loved the most, her music. Listen in as Lisa talks about how she fell in love with the piano, attended Julliard, USC, and then taught in the university and private level before creating a music company that created calming music for pets. She has been doing what she loves her whole life, but she had her creative pivot when she fractured her right hand and decided to make some Left Hand Lemonade.

Kelly Abanda, M.A. is an expert in pivoting- having learned to lean in to opportunities and adventure over the last 30 years. In 2016 she left her cushy job--along with perfectionism and overthinking-- to travel the world and that choice ended up leading her on a three-year adventure to over 23 countries around the world. She is obsessed with embracing adventure and passion instead of safety and comfort--and with helping others do the same.
Through workshops, online courses, 1:1 coaching, and group coaching she creates a safe space for perfectionists, overthinkers, and high achievers to get out of their own way in order to experience more fulfillment, joy, adventure and confidence. Messy action is the key and Kelly will help you get there!

This episode is special because my guest is Jami Gabbard. She is a teacher with a 23 year career and is now adding children’s book author to her resume. Her book “Little Miss Raya’s Big Adventures: All About Me” is out now on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Her journey from having an idea inspired by her daughter Ella, to this book took five years, but she never gave up.
