Maria Cade is a native of New Castle, Pennsylvania, and currently holds job of Miss Central Pennsylvania 2022. Although Maria has only been a part of the Miss America organization for two years, she has gained a lifetime of memories, professional development and sisterhood! She currently works as a multimedia journalist for Central Pennsylvania’s CBS affiliate station, WTAJ TV News. She loves being in her home state sharing the news with Central Pennsylvania.
Maria is a 2021 graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied Media and Journalism as well as vocal performance. At UNC, she worked on the award-winning, student-broadcast show, Carolina Week, covering all things Tar Heels. Additionally, she was a reporter and anchor for Carolina Connection, UNC’s weekly radio show broadcasted in partnership with 97.9 WCHL. She was the Executive Director of UNC Pauper Players, UNC’s premier musical theater company. She also performed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella as a member of the award-winning a cappella group, Tar Heel Voices.
After graduating from UNC, Maria moved to New York City to work with ABC News as an intern for the third hour of Good Morning America. She brought community news to the national level, sharing stories highlighting people making a difference every day.
Maria is a passionate advocate for representation and inclusion. Through her social impact initiative, Be V.I.S.I.B.L.E., Maria is teaching the leaders of tomorrow to embrace their unique qualities. Now more than ever, it is vital that our youth feel represented and heard. By advocating for the amplification of underrepresented voices, Maria hopes to inspire the next generation to be empowered to succeed in any way they choose, no matter who they are or where they come from.
