  • 030: The Mindset of A Successful Entrepreneur // Dylan Mullan (Happy Skin Co.)

    Watch this episode on Youtube!

Happy Skin Co. is the world’s #1 at home hair removal company and today’s guest Dylan Mullan, is it’s Founder and Director.

With an initial investment of $20,000, Dylan and his then business partner launched the business in April of 2018. They had saved up and worked on the business for over a year before it’s launch. Only 2 weeks after HSC’s launch Dylan had to quit his full time corporate job to work full time on his up and coming e-commerce business. Within it’s first 2 years of operation Happy Skin Co. earned over 25 million dollars in revenue. Although Dylan put in the work spending many late nights hustling on his side project Dylan attributes much of his success to his mindset - specifically his practice of visualization.

From day one Dylan knew Happy Skin Co. was going to be a success - he did not believe it, he knew it.

During our conversation Dylan and I covered:

    • what Dylan’s life was like before his entrepreneurial days
    • the journey of Happy Skin Co.
    • mindset / visualization
      • what Dylan’s visualization practice looks like
      • Dylan provides an example of what he does during his visualization
      • the importance of emotions in manifestation
    • the exact moment Dylan knew Happy Skin Co. was going to be a success
    • Dylan shared what it was like to work with Gary Vee
    • advice he would give to someone feeling stuck / unfulfilled in their current circumstances
    • what motivated Dylan to choose a hair removal device for his business
    • what have been some of his biggest take aways from his past 2.5 years of life

We covered a lot more topics but I closed up the conversation by asking Dylan, ‘How do you define success?’. I took a lot from his response and our entire conversation in general. If you are looking for some motivation and inspiration, this is the episode for you

  • 029: Polyamory // Lindsay Dixon

Hello friends, welcome back to a new episode of The Curious One!

I have a very interesting episode for you.. I’m diving head first into relationships, and more specifically, polyamory. If you have not heard of polyamory before, it can be defined as the philosophy or state of encouraging simultaneous loving relationships with the full knowledge and consent of all parties. Although, each form of polyamory will be defined differently depending on the individuals involved.

In this episode I sat down with Lindsay Dixon to chat about her personal journey with polyamory. Lindsay has been with her partner for over 11 years and they have been exploring polyamory for 6 years now. Lindsay and her partner have a son, and her metamour (the partner of one's partner, with whom one does not share a direct sexual or loving relationship), has been in her life for over six months now.

In our conversation we journeyed through:

    • what does polyamory mean to you?
    • Lindsay’s personal journey with polyamory
      • the biggest challenges she faced when she first transitioned into polyamory
    • society’s expectations around relationships / love and the effect that it has on us
    • unpacking polyamory vocabulary
    • how do you handle jealousy
      • & can jealousy be viewed as a positive thing
    • feminism & masculinity
    • children and polyamory - the conversation she had with her son and sharing about their family dynamic
      • Lindsay’s advice to those who have children and are wanting to explore polyamory
    • what happens if your partner is with someone that you do not like?
    • what advice would you give to someone who wants to try polyamory or is just starting out on their polyamory journey?
    • what piece of relationship advice would you give to individuals regardless of their relationship dynamic?
    • what do you hope people take away from us having this conversation around polyamory?

They start with your own level of self-confidence, your individual ability to be present and committed to growth, and your personal dedication to be a net-positive for the world; to be someone who adds to the lives of others, rather than sapping them of joy and momentum." -Colin Wright

  • 028: LIFE ON THE SPECTRUM (Part 3) // Jade Kiser

Welcome to the final episode of the three part series, Life on The Spectrum, where I dive head first into gaining more insight into ASD.

Autism Spectrum Disorder, also known as ASD, can be clinically defined as: a condition related to brain development that impacts how a person perceives and socializes with others, causing problems in social interaction and communication. The disorder also includes limited and repetitive patterns of behaviour. Throughout the next 3 episodes we will journey through three entirely different perspectives. Individuals will share either their personal journey with ASD or shed light onto what their involvement with individuals who have ASD has looked like.

ASD falls along a spectrum and as Becca said in part one of this series, autism is different for everyone. With each individual that has ASD they will have an entirely different way of identifying with autism.

I hope through listening to a range of perspectives you are able to see just how diverse ASD can be.

My aim with this series is to shed more awareness onto what ASD truly is, how diverse everyones experience can be, address stigmas commonly associated with autism, highlight the strengths these individuals have, and learn ways we can better support those with ASD and their loved ones.

Join me as we navigate these conversations together and learn more about our community, including ourselves through the process.

In the final episode of the Life on The Spectrum series I had a conversation with Jade Kiser. Jade is a Special Education Teacher and has worked in the classroom for 5 years now. Jade has also started her own business Kiser Education Consulting & Advocacy.

**Check out Part 1 & Part 2 of the Life on The Spectrum series if you haven’t already

During our conversation, Jade and I spoke about:

    • background on Jade and her past work experience with individuals with disabilities
    • what inspired her to work with individuals with disabilities
    • how she defines ASD
    • what some of the biggest challenges the individuals she works with face
    • behaviour is communication
    • what Jade has learned since working with individuals on the spectrum & how it has effected her personally
    • more information on Kiser Educational Consulting & Advocacy

There are also 2 questions I am asking each of my guests in the Life On the Spectrum series:

    1. What is one thing you wish everyone knew about ASD? OR If there was one thing you could say to society about ASD, what would it be?
    2. How can we better support individuals with ASD?
