    As the co-founded of TeamWorks Media, Jay predicated on the notion that purpose-driven organizations have the power to change both the world and their bottom lines through a well-told story. As technology evolved, Jay saw a marketplace need for both large-scale, emotionally engaging content and the ability to help clients get that work in front of the right people at the right time in the right place.

    Jay is a leader in digital media property creation and creating content-driven solutions to change the trajectory of a client’s business. He is a regular on the content marketing speaking circuit including recent speeches at American Marketing Association (AMA) Non-Profit Summit, AMA Higher Ed Summit, Portada Sports Marketing Summit and Vistage (Worldwide Peer CEO Network) to name a few.

    Jay has had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients at TeamWorks Media, including significant partnerships with ESPN, the Big Ten Conference, MLB, Comcast, Converse, Gatorade, Northwestern University, National Baseball Hall of Fame, Procter & Gamble and more.

    He started his career as a sports television producer for Fox Sports Net and won an Emmy for his work covering the Michael Jordan-era Chicago Bulls. A Rhode Island native, Jay lives in Lake Bluff with his wife Tanya and their three girls.

  • Episode 124: Building Brands with Tony Ponturo
    Tony Ponturo is a respected voice in sports media and marketing. Ponturo is CEO of Ponturo Management Group, LLC, consulting in marketing for business and new sports ventures. He is a regular guest on Lou Dobbs Tonight, Fox Business, Bloomberg News, CNBC, and other media outlets discussing the sports business of the day.

    Additionally, Ponturo is a Managing Partner in the Kirmser Ponturo Group, LLC, a company that produces and promotes projects at the crossroads of sports and entertainment. Kirmser Ponturo Group brought three major sports leagues, the NFL, NBA, and MLB and their trademarks to Broadway for the first time in history. These productions include LOMBARDI, MAGIC BIRD, AND BRONX BOMBERS.

    Ponturo is a two-time TONY AWARD winner for MEMPHIS and WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOLF.

    Tony Ponturo spent 26 years at Anheuser-Busch serving as Vice-President of Global Media Sports and Entertainment Marketing for 17 of those years. He also served on the Anheuser-Busch Strategy Committee representing the top 15 executives of the company.

    He was annually ranked in the top 20 most powerful people in sports and ranked #14 among Businessweek’s list of most prominent executives.

    Ponturo was inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame in 2010 and that same year was awarded the Lifetime Innovator Award from PROMAXBDA Sports and Marketing.

  • Episode 122: Not a New Phenomenon, The Power of Sports and Social Justice
    More on Len Elmore...

    In 1992, he founded Precept Sports & Entertainment, a sports management company based in Columbia, Maryland. Under his direction, from 1992 until 1997, Precept represented seven NBA first-round draft picks (including a number one pick overall), three high round draft picks in the NFL, an MLB veteran, and several Olympic athletes. During that time, Precept negotiated tens of millions of dollars in performance and endorsement contracts. Elmore is currently also in his 24th year as a media basketball analyst, during which he has covered both NCAA men’s basketball and the NBA. He began his broadcasting career with JP Sports, CBS, and now currently works for ESPN. He also covers the NCAA Tournament for CBS.

    Elmore is a noted authority on sports and sports law issues and has published articles on a variety of issues in sports and society. He was a member of the Sports Lawyers Association Board from 2000 to 2007 and was president of the National Basketball Retired Players Association from 2005 to 2008, serving as chief executive until July 2008. He is currently the CEO of iHoops. Elmore is also a commissioner on the John and James L. Knight Foundation’s Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics. In 2002, he was voted one of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Top 50 Greatest Basketball Players.

    Len is currently a full-time faculty member for Columbia University's Sports Management Program.

  • Episode 121: Entrepreneurship and Class Models with Grant Son
    Grant Son is a full-time faculty member at Columbia University currently serving as Senior Lecturer of Professional Practice in the School of Professional Studies and teaches graduate-level courses in the discipline of Sports Management and Entrepreneurship.

    Prior to joining the faculty at Columbia in January 2018, Son taught Entrepreneurship and Sports Marketing courses at Columbia Business School and the Yale School of Management.

    In addition, Son serves as CEO of Greater Good Ventures, a firm he founded in 2009 serving nonprofits, charities, academic institutions, and expanded to include startups, growth ventures and established corporations. Significant engagements include Cornell University, HockeyTech, Sports195, and Sequel Studios.

    As CEO, Son grew a previous startup into a top-10 sports website acquired by ESPN. His professional experience includes over 30 years of marketing, e-commerce, and digital media experience at iconic brands including the NFL, Sports Illustrated, and CBS where he has acquired over 70 million paid subscribers, generated sales revenue of over $4.2 billion, and managed a P&L of $230 million.

    Son’s education includes a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania (1985) and an MBA from Columbia Business School (1994) with Beta Gamma Sigma honors.

    Son is an avid athlete and sports fan. He has over 20 years of experience coaching soccer and tennis, runs three miles a day, and has attended every major sporting event, including six Super Bowls, World Cup Soccer, the World Series, the NBA Finals, the Stanley Cup Finals, championship boxing, and two Olympics (Barcelona and Atlanta).
