  • Did the “experts” fail us on COVID-19? Why “Americans haven’t found a satisfying alternative to religion”

Get your copy of Who Am I? today.

Many “experts” assured us that religion was outdated—and many now admit they were wrong. Studies show that people of faith report higher well-being, gratitude, and connection, while secularism leaves many adrift. But beyond the sociological benefits lies a deeper truth: Christianity is not merely helpful—it’s true. Because Christ is risen, our faith is not in vain, and we are not alone. The same Jesus who conquered the grave walks with us today, offering hope, healing, and life. The more we know him personally, the more we’ll find that our best days truly are yet to come.

  • Pope Francis dies at the age of eighty-eight

Get your copy of Who Am I? today.

Pope Francis, the first Latin American pontiff, has died. His passing was announced by Cardinal Kevin Farrell, the Vatican camerlengo. Bells tolled in church towers across Rome after the announcement. The pope survived a thirty-eight-day stay in Gemelli hospital for a respiratory crisis, emerging yesterday to bless thousands of people in St. Peter’s Square for Easter Sunday. Of all that could be said about Pope Francis this morning, however, I want to focus on his humility.

  • Will the Iran and US treaty talks lead to peace?

When President Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi last Saturday to discuss Iran’s nuclear ambitions, no one expected it to lead to further negotiations on Saturday.  This has raised hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough in the Middle East—but trust is scarce and Iran’s motives remain unclear. As we reflect this Good Friday on the Messiah many rejected for not meeting their expectations, we’re reminded how often we, too, reshape God to fit our desires. True peace only comes when we surrender control and follow the true God.

  • Why are young adults fueling “meaningful spiritual renewal”? Maundy Thursday and my doubts about grace

Two-thirds of all US adults now say they have made a personal commitment to Jesus that is still important in their life today, marking a 12 percent increase in the last four years. Young adults in both countries are fueling the increase. But what God does, Satan corrupts. He whispers in our souls that we are not worthy of God’s favor, that our sins have cost us his best. An event on Maundy Thursday exposes this lie and invites us to consider an astounding dimension of Jesus’ love for us.

  • Abducted US pastor Josh Sullivan rescued in shootout: Silent Wednesday and my tearful cry to God

Last Thursday evening, American pastor Josh Sullivan was abducted at gunpoint as he was delivering a sermon during a prayer meeting at his South African church. He was apparently kidnapped for ransom, a crime that has recently been on the rise across the country. His church urged its followers to “please pray for Josh Sullivan.” This morning, we are learning that these prayers have been answered. The greater our challenges, the greater our need for our Father’s provision and grace.

  • “Wellness rooms” and fireplaces that lead to escape tunnels: Holy Tuesday and my spiritual blindness

Space designers in major cities claim that “wellness rooms” are essential for creating peace in modern American lives. Conversely, “panic rooms” are also booming in American homes. Bunkers cannot protect us from pancreatic cancer or panic rooms from traffic accidents. In fact, placing our security in buildings built by humans can blind us to the most significant and urgent issues our souls face today. The One who came to open blind eyes through his incarnate body now wants to do the same through ours.

  • Rory McIlroy, Tom Cruise, and the power of persistence: Holy Monday and my greatest personal fear

Get your copy of Who Am I? today.

Rory McIlroy won the Masters yesterday, becoming only the sixth man ever to win all four majors (the “career grand slam”). Afterward, he told his four-year-old daughter, Poppy, “Never give up on your dreams. Never, ever give up on your dreams.” Tom Cruise would agree. The actor is known for his death-defying films that his fellow actor Simon Pegg calls “absolutely bananas.” McIlroy and Cruise illustrate the power of persistence. But what do we do when our dreams and fears require a power beyond human agency?

  • Israel remains one of the happiest nations on Earth: What Israel’s rank on the latest World Happiness Report can teach us about community

Get your copy of Who Am I? today.

The latest World Happiness Report was recently released, and Finland, Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden remain in the top four spots. Their high ranking should not come as much of a surprise given that all four nations are generally considered solid places to live with relatively few threats to their way of life. That is not the case, however, for one nation that few likely suspected would make the top ten: Israel. Today we discuss what we can learn from their emphasis on community and doing life together as a means to fulfillment on earth and a preview of heaven.

  • President Trump pauses tariffs, markets surge

Share your story of how content from Denison Forum has impacted you!

President Trump announced yesterday a ninety-day pause on higher tariffs for dozens of countries while hiking levies on China to 125 percent. The Dow Jones surged nearly three thousand points on the news for its largest rally in five years. The recent volatility of an economy most of us have no way to influence highlights the degree to which you and I have no control over our lives. Having faith helps us respond to our challenges only if the object of that faith is able to respond to our challenges. Otherwise, misplaced faith does more harm than good.

  • Johnny Gaudreau’s widow gives birth 7 months after his death: A mathematical reflection on the cross and God’s love

Meredith Gaudreau gave birth to her third baby, son Carter Michael Gaudreau, on Tuesday, April 1. This seven months after his father, Johnny Gaudreau, was killed while biking alongside his NHL star brother Matthew. Their sister was to be married the next day. Stories like these always raise the hardest of faith questions. During this Easter season, it’s customary to remember the events that led to Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday. We know the facts of the story and the motive behind them: “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Today, we look at the weight of that truth for all of humanity.
