Last night the Durban University of Technology announced that it has temporarily suspended all activities on their campuses due to the eruption of violence, intimidation and arson at the Steve Biko campus. Police later confirmed that a group of students set alight four vehicles on the campus. Some of the main reasons for the violence are that some students complained that they struggling to register for the 2022 academic year. This takes us back to the question of how people express their frustration through violence and why this keeps on happening? Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi met with the leadership and learners of Hoerskool Jan Viljoen in Randfontein west of Johannesburg to determine the cause of last Friday's alleged racially-motivated incident. He says he will meet with them again soon. Earlier police used rubber bullets to disperse some parents and learners who accuse the provincial government of not listening to them following the incident.
