Is South Africa nurturing a culture of no consequences for wrongdoing in our Institutions of higher learning? We are now in conversation with City Press Editor-in-Chief, Mondli Makhanya, who seems to think so. Makhanya says since the start of the #FeesMustFall campaign, we have valorized thuggery and portrayed hooligans as revolutionaries and tolerate and normalize extremism. He says there has to be visible consequences for the criminality that has seized our campuses.

How does Psychology get decolonized? In the aftermath of the apartheid era, psychologists are working to make psychology more relevant to the vast majority of South Africans. ANC secretary general Ace Magashule says the African National Congress upholds the principle of innocent until proven guilty with regards to the respective cases of party spokespersons Pule Mabe and Zizi Kodwa. Yesterday the party confirmed that Mabe and Kodwa have agreed to step aside amid allegations of sexual harassment and rape respectively.

Muhammadu Buhari has won a second term as Nigeria's president. The opposition is challenging the result. Muhammadu Buhari came to power in 2015 promising to defeat extremist group Boko Haram and also to curb corruption in the country. Shortly after taking office, Buhari declared Boko Haram "technically defeated". This morning we will examine if Buhari has lived up to this pledge.

Yesterday the state capture inquiry heard how then-acting Eskom boss Matshela Koko leaked critical information on internal programmes to people aligned to the controversial Gupta family. Testifying at the inquiry, the parastatal’s board chairman Jabu Mabuza described emails found on Koko’s computer, in which he sent confidential information to known Gupta associate Salim Essa.

What will Johannesburg look like in 35 years’ time from a spatial perspective? A 2015 report published by Allianz, titled The Megacity State, stated that Johannesburg will be classified as a megacity by 2030, with its population exceeding 10 million people. As the population and economic activity is increasingly concentrating within the major urban centres of Johannesburg, this morning we will look at spatial dynamics and analyze spatial processes in the City. We will also look at access as a key objective for spatial transformation, as spatial integration has been a key objective in post-Apartheid spatial planning. So what will Johannesburg look like in 35 years’ time from a spatial perspective?
