Political parties are not private entities that can do as they wish in the management of their internal affairs, this according to political analyst, Mpumelelo Mkhabela. Last week the Western Cape High Court found that the DA violated its own constitution in terminating Cape Town Mayor, Patricia De Lille's party membership. Mkhabela says the judgment entrenches in our constitutional democracy the importance of constitutional conduct by leaders of political parties and also how parties must comply with their own constitutions....

The Steinhoff saga, possibly the biggest case of corporate fraud in South African business history, has dominated financial and general news since the company’s share price collapsed on 5 December 2017. According to the University Of Stellenbosch Business School (USB) the overall aim of this mini case study is not to further discredit Steinhoff or any specific individuals, but rather to distil business lessons that might alert people to new Steinhoff’s in the making. Mining unions are calling for amendments to the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), after yet another death at the Khomanani shaft at Sibanye-Stillwater's Driefontein operations. The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) is also calling for urgent intervention, saying the current spate of deaths at Sibanye-Stillwater is a crime against humanity and that the act must be changed so that mine bosses can be prosecuted.
