  • According to Your Word

    Today's Promise: Luke 1:38

When God chose to fulfill his promise of salvation to the world, He didn't choose a famous person or even a wealthy person to accomplish it. God chose a young woman from a no-name family living in a tiny little community.

God chooses the weak and the powerless to astound the world. You don't have to be powerful or wise, rich, or famous for God to use you.

Mary's answer to the angels is a perfect example of what our attitude should be. "God, I am your servant. Be it to me according to Your word."

  • God Came and Lived Among Us

    Today's Promise: John 1:14

John gives two important facts about Jesus.

First, He was the God who became flesh. The creator God stepped into His creation. He took on our form, walked among us, and experienced our world.

Second, Jesus was all God and all man. Jesus is completely unique. He was all of God and all of man wrapped up in one body. Jesus is the great God-man.

Since Jesus walked on this earth, He understands your weaknesses and struggles. You don't have to "try" and reach up to God; He has come down to you.

  • God's Promise of Christmas

    Today's Promise: Isaiah 9:6

From the moment Adam and Eve brought sin into the world, God had a plan. He promised, right in the garden, that one would come who would crush the head of Satan and restore what sin had destroyed.

The prophet Isaiah echoed what God said in the garden with new details of who this person would be.

The promise of Christmas is that the baby in a manger would bring new freedom and restoration from the devastating power of sin. That same Jesus will bring freedom and restoration to your life today.

  • God Stores up Goodness

    Today's Promise: Psalm 31:19

God has stored up goodness and mercy for those who fear and take refuge in Him. Fearing the Lord means showing honor and respect to Him for who He is.

Taking refuge in the Lord means placing your trust in Him. Imagine a vast warehouse in heaven filled with every blessing you will ever need.

Even before you ask, God has already anticipated your needs. When you fear and trust the Lord, you open the doors to this warehouse. No matter what challenges you face, you will never deplete the goodness and mercy that God has in store for you.

  • Blessings Come to Those Who Bless Others

    Today's Promise: Matthew 10:42

The Kingdom of God often works the opposite of the world and our thinking.

Jesus has just finished dropping a list of things His followers should do. All are contrary to the way we would normally act.

Jesus commands His followers to be generous givers. We are to be conduits of His blessings. When God blesses us, we pass those blessings along to others.

When you give to a friend in need, God notices. Jesus said that even a cup of water given in His name would not be overlooked. God blesses those who bless others.

  • God Has Helped You Before and Will Help You Again

    Today's Promise: 1 Samuel 7:12

Today we look at how reviewing God's help in the past gives you new strength to face today's problems.

When God gave victory to the Children of God over the Philistines, the prophet Samuel created a stone monument saying, "Thus for the Lord has helped us."

When your faith is weak, take some time to review all God has done for you In the past. When you remember all God has done for you before, you are reminded that God will help you face the problems and challenges of today.

  • Jesus Gives You Strength to Overcome Temptation

    Today's Promise: Hebrews 2:18

As a Christian, you will be tempted. Every day, the world around you and the invisible kingdom of darkness come against you. Their goal is to move you from obedient dependence on God to independent rebellion toward God.

If they can't cause you to sin, they will try to distract you and keep your eyes off the Lord Jesus.

When you are faced with temptation, know that Jesus is there with you. Look to Him for victory over each temptation. You will find strength as never before through the power of Christ in you.

  • The Great Creator God

    Today's Promise: Genesis 1:1

If you look at creation, it's hard not to believe there is a God. The beauty of creation is the expression of the creator God.

The Bible begins with a promise. You may have never considered it before, but the first verse in the Bible says there is a God, and He is the creator. The world around you is the expression of the great creator God.

As the creator, He is involved in the world He created. As your creator, He has a plan for your life.

  • God is Faithful, Even When We are Unfaithful

    Today's Promise: 2 Timothy 2:13

Your Heavenly Father is a faithful God. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His steadfast love for you is beyond your understanding.

God is also faithful to His word. When God makes a promise, you can count on it.

Finally, God is faithful to His children. Even when we are unfaithful, God is still faithful.

Your unfaithfulness doesn't affect His faithfulness. God loves you so much that He will allow your unfaithfulness. Like the prodigal son's father, God is always watching for your return. He greets you with open arms and celebrates your return.
