This is the first of six studies in how patient apprenticeship to Jesus leads us into the fullness of life for which God made us. Dallas presents how our hearts and lives are broken alongside the promise of healing. There are things that will change us and heal us, but healing is active, not passive, and there are things we need to do.

 In session two of this 4-part 2010 series, Dallas emphasizes the centrality of knowledge to the Christian life. The historical drive against this view of Christianity is part of a battle for authority over public life. We have allowed our beliefs to be treated as “just faith” and need to reclaim the importance of the knowledge of reality that is contained in the teachings of Scripture. This is where we find the best answers to the Four Great Questions. The answer to the fourth question (how to become a good person, leads into a discussion of the makeup of the human personality and where our actions come from).

Dallas defines character as acquired essence. “It is your identity as shaped by your experiences, and especially your choices, and interaction with other people.”

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
