Does God Speak Today? : Facing the Issues

This is the fifth session from a 3-day conference hosted by African Enterprise with the theme “Hearing the Voice of God.”

This episode focuses on four general assumptions that keep people from entering into a life of conversation with God:

1. God would not communicate with run-of-the-mill human beings by surrounding them with His presence and speaking to them. 
2. God does not communicate with individuals directly. 
3. God cannot communicate with human beings.
4. God should not communicate with individuals.

The Frank Laubach book Dallas wants us to rush right out and read is Game with Minutes. The other book mentioned is Letters by a Modern Mystic. Both of these are contained in Laubach’s book, Man of Prayer.

Learning How to Reliably Recognize the Voice of God in Your Soul

This is the fourth session from a 3-day conference hosted by African Enterprise with the theme “Hearing the Voice of God.”

In today’s episode, Dallas is teaching about how we can learn to know God’s voice. There are three characteristics of God’s voice that we will learn to identify by experience: quality, spirit and content.

Dallas also refers back to this list of communication methods from the last session:

1.  Phenomenon plus voice;

2.  Supernatural messenger or angel;

3.  Dreams and visions;

4.  Audible voice;

5.  The human voice; and

6.  The "spirit of man," or the "still small voice."

1. Obedience is the organ of knowledge in the spiritual life.
2. “If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things that are above where Christ sits on the right hand of the Father. 3. Does the gospel I preach have a natural tendency to produce disciples as distinguished from consumers of religious goods and services?
4. The Great Commission:
   “I have been given say over everything in heaven and on earth. So, as you go, make disciples of all kinds of people, gather them in trinitarian reality, and teach them in such a way that they do all things I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you every moment, until the job is done.” Matt. 28:18-20 (Willard paraphrase)
5. Who is an Apprentice of Jesus?
   As Jesus’ apprentice (disciple, student), I am learning from him how to lead my life in the Kingdom of God as he would lead my life if he were I.
