  • Saboteur Series Part 4: The Victim

On this week's episode, Jamie and Guy continue with their saboteur series - this time focusing on the 'Victim' saboteur. The 'Victim' saboteur is one of the ten types of saboteurs identified by Shirzad Chamine in his work on Positive Intelligence.  He teaches that the saboteurs are the negative voices in our heads that "generate negative emotions" (stress, anxiety, self-doubt, frustration, restlessness, and unhappiness) and "sabotage our performance, wellbeing and relationships". The Victim saboteur is defined as:  emotional and temperamental as a way to gain attention and affection. An extreme focus on internal feelings, particularly painful ones. Martyr streak.
Although the victim saboteur isn't the strongest saboteur for Jamie or Guy - it still shows up from time to time on days when they feel like nothing is going their way or they can't catch a break 😔 It may or may not be your strongest saboteur, but chances are you have someone in your life who struggles more with it. Listen to learn how to manage this for yourself or how to support the ones you love when they are feeling sabotaged by this way of negative thinking.

  • Exhausted? Daydreaming of a Good Night's Sleep? Chrissy Lawler, LMFT and Baby Sleep Consultant, is Here to Help Everyone in the House Get Their Zzzz's

Counting sheep has nothing on this week’s guest, Chrissy Lawler, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, lover of sleep, and baby sleep consultant. Chrissy explains when she began practicing therapy she started to realize that sleep issues were a common thread among all of her clients. Because of this, she decided to pursue additional training in advanced sleep medicine. She says her goal is to “take the stress out of sleep training and get everyone in the family a good night’s rest.”  What began with helping adults achieve a better night's sleep, shifted to focusing on helping babies sleep when she became a mother.  She says, “I started having babies and realized that I functioned 1,000x better when I had slept. I read every book I could get my hands on about sleep training and realized that, though there are differences with every baby, there are a lot of universal truths about getting babies to sleep well.” In this episode, Chrissy explains to Jamie and Guy the differences between how babies sleep and how adults sleep - and tips on how to improve both. Jamie and Guy both agreed all this information would have been so nice to have had years ago when they were newborns.   To learn more about Chrissy and how to get better sleep, follow her on Instagram:

  • Saboteur Series Part 3: The Avoider

On this week's episode Jamie and Guy deep dive into another saboteur as part of their Positive Intelligence Saboteur Series: the Avoider. The "Avoider"" is one of the ten types of saboteurs identified by Shirzad Chamine in his work on Positive Intelligence.  He teaches that the saboteurs are the negative voices in our heads that "generate negative emotions" (stress, anxiety, self-doubt, frustration, restlessness, and unhappiness) and "sabotage our performance, wellbeing and relationships". The Avoider saboteur causes a person to focus on the positive and pleasant in an extreme way.  It causes them to avoid difficult and unpleasant tasks and conflicts. While neither Jamie nor Guy have the "Avoider" as their top saboteur, it still shows up for them from time to time.  From doing laundry, to delaying hard conversations with loved ones to putting off doing taxes until the last minute, they share how this saboteur can manifest in their lives. 😓
