The Day I Tried to Cook

今天我掌勺

Mom is a great cook．

妈妈是个很棒的厨师。

She started cooking when she was three years old．

她三岁就开始学习做饭了。

I know it sounds amazing, but she would help her mom cook．

我知道这听起来令人难以置信，但她确实那个时候就能帮她的妈妈做饭了。

And now I’m helping my mom cook．

现在我也开始帮妈妈做饭。

I like to make chicken the best．

我最喜欢做鸡肉料理。

Baked chicken is my favourite thing to make and to eat．

烤鸡肉是我特别喜欢做也特别喜欢吃的。

One day, when mom was sick, I tried to make chicken all by myself．

一天，妈妈生病了，我尝试自己做烤鸡肉。

I washed the chicken and put it in a pan in the oven to bake．

我把鸡肉洗了，放在烤箱的托盘上烘烤。

When the bell rang to tell me the chicken was ready, I opened the oven door．

“叮”的一声响，我知道烤鸡肉已经做好了，我打开烤箱。

Guess what? The chicken was not cooked!

你猜怎么着？鸡肉完全是生的！

I laughed and laughed and laughed．

我哈哈哈哈哈哈哈地大笑起来。

Do you know what I did? I forgot to turn on the oven!

你知道我做了什么吗？我忘记打开烤箱的开关了！

So I called on the telephone for pizza to come to our house．

所以我只能打电话订了披萨。

Mom was happy that I “cooked”by myself．

妈妈很开心我能自己“做饭”了。

She was happy that we could eat pizza together．

她更开心我们能一起吃披萨。

We will have chicken some other night!

我们改天晚上再吃鸡肉！
