Florence Nightingale, The Founder Of Modern Nursing Would Be In Awe Of Her Fellow Nurses If She Were Here Today. To mark the contributions nurses make to society "International Nurses Day" was created and is celebrated today May 12th, every year on her birthday around the world. We're also smack in the midst of Nurses Week so I thought I'd check in and see how the nurses are doing at one of the busiest Covid-19 hospitals in the NY area. My guest today is Paula Fessler, RN, Chief Nurse Executive and Sr. VP for Patient Care Services at WMCHealth which includes the Westchester Medical Center, the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and the Behavioral Health Center in Valhalla, NY. They are doing amazing work! Many have stepped up to perform work they might not normally do. Heard they have great news to report! (God knows we crave good news) As of this date, the Westchester Medical Center Health Network surpassed a milestone: 1,000 COVID-19 cases discharged from their member hospitals.

Anthony D'Ascoli and Anna Molisse used to go out for dinner and dancing every Friday night before the coronovairus forced them to #StayHome. Not ones to have their spirits squashed easily, they came up with 'Fancy Fridays'. They still dress up and dine and dance on Fridays, but now they just do it at home. Anthony and Anna have been doing this every week since March 20th with only one exception. One 'Fancy Friday' had to be held on a Thursday for Anna's Birthday so in lieu of Fancy Friday that week, they held a 'Fantasy Friday' dressing up as Superman & Wonder Woman.
Gotta Love People Who Figure Out How To Make The Best of Things In The Worst of Times. Thought their creativity might inspire some of you to try coming up with something fun like this to help get you through this stressful time.

Maid Brigade in Valhalla, N.Y., Has A Unique Machine That Makes Professional Level Disinfectant, So They're Making It And Giving It Away Free! Robin and Gary Murphy who own Maid Brigade saw on Facebook that people could not find basic cleaning items like wipes or disinfectant. They happen to have an EPA-registered generator that is capable of producing 15 gallons of hospital-grade disinfectant per hour. Robin Murphy and her husband have operated Maid Brigade since 1996, and are now producing their professional-level disinfectant in mass quantities for those in need. No charge. Robin joins The Debbie Nigro Show on WGCH today at 11:20am EST.
This disinfectant works really nicely," Robin said. "But it only has a shelf life of one week, so we're telling everybody if in a week you can't find disinfectant to come back and fill up. There's no problem, we've got you."
Maid Brigade serves Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and parts of Fairfield County. They're committed to providing safe and effective cleaning. They've been “green” since before the term was used relating to housecleaning.
Great story from lohud .com about this great contribution to the community:

That's The Spirit! Thank Goodness Some Dentists Will Go In To Help You Out During A Dental Emergency! But What Constitutes A Dental Emergency? And what's the new corona virus routine if you have to see a dentist and a dentist has to see you? The list of 'emergencies' is in the link below from the American Dental Association. My pal
Dr. John Castanaro who's alone in his office right now, joined the show to explain the 'new routine' for current dental emergencies.

Sophie Newsome and Rory Tice are making hand sanitizer as we speak at Coopers Daughter Spirits in Hudson, NY. Tune in 11:20am EST to hear how they're doing it and what they want you to know. Cooper’s Daughter at Olde York Farm is making every effort to contribute during the health crisis but they need your donation to keep going!
Hand sanitizer, made to the World Health Organization guidelines, will be donated in your name to hospitals and first responders. If they are able to supply them with what they need they will then look into other places/people in need such as senior care facilities, restaurants/delivery drivers, and farmers’ markets (which are advised to have hand sanitizer present). Your donation will go towards the overhead of keeping our sanitizer in production. Like many other small businesses the health crisis has been crippling for us.
A small percentage of your donation will go towards our full time team members who are unable to return to work until the health crisis is under control.
Cooper’s Daughter at Olde York Farm will not take a profit on hand sanitizer.
A special thank you to Next Gen Signs for donating labels and to Subversive Brewing for providing materials theywere unable to find elsewhere.
